Finish you fizzy drink and join the convoy to the Ring from the Backbencher on game day. Leaves 35min before kick off.

This is to get some atmosphere in the stadium earlier than the one minute before kick off that we have been.

No hooligans please

And this is the 127th time we're gonna try this?

I'm sure the message will get through by the 200th...

Have to say, this last week, we were thinking a crowd of about 2,000 max for the Sydney game. Then the floodgates opened about a minute before kick-off. Well, sort of opened anyway. Let's hope they open wider for the next home game. Everyone loves a winner after all.

just made mental note to self !! will have to leave the rapa sooner than first thought , but i am sure we can make it to the bb just that little bit earlier , not so much of a hardship , just a necessary evil me thinks !!!............and of course what a wounderful way to spend a sunday afternoon , cavorting  at the local before the match ......beats getting dragged around the wharehouse or the supermarketand maybe the odd garden centre ........... oh Phoenix we love you !!!

Yeah I got there the earliest I ever have (about 20 mins before kick-off) and was really concerned about turnout too until kickoff.

The problem is everyone shows up late at the BB usually only gets in 2 rounds and then are off again. Ive worked every Sunday this season and the crowd starts dispersing at 4:30 toward the stadium. we are practicaly empty around 2pm, we don't even get seriously busy until 3:30 ish, then its chaos for an hour and your off. Its the nature of the customers, if they want to leave home late get in a couple of drinks and head down to the stadium, with a couple of minutes to spare then Ii don't see someone with a bull horn making a difference. (feel free to try)

To be honest I have yet to see any of the Fever Exec try and start any chanting or crowd participation activities in the pub this season.

When the Sydney guys showed up last sunday, they said if it wasnt for the fact that News was in early they would have thought they were in the wrong pub. 2 retro rickis and a Kings top versus 12 Bling'ers.

Got there at 4.20 on Sunday after a HARD all nighter on Saturday... Needed to get a cpouple of beers down so didn't actually leave untill 4.45..
Apart from that I usually get to the stadium quite early, but I can imagine there would often be people in the position I was in on Sunday

A bit late for this season (and possibly for ever given FFA rules), but if we didn't have allocated seating for the fever zone, then there would be a bit of an incentive to get a bit earlier to get a good (or your favourite) possy.

As a person who favoured allocated 'spots' (we don't actually use our seats do we?) last year when there was a discussion over this, I have since changed my view completely.  Not only does it (unallocated seating) encourage earlier congregation (which helps the atmosphere build up), but also likeminded singers can cluster, easier to bring with irregular friends and out of towners, get away from the obnoxious barsteward with the season ticket behind you / next to you (that could be me of course) etc etc.

Apologies for re-opening an old worn-out debate, but I'm not sure if it was looked at from this perspective.

Unfortunately, until they have decent beer at a decent price at the stadium, late departure from the pub is going to have some appeal.

I know, I know, its serious!

It's now the FFA's directive that there MUST be allocated seating in all home ends so that ship has sailed.

I think that 'getting to the ring on time' sounds like the title of Yellow Fever's next song.

It could be a gay anthem.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

All getting there early did for me was expose me to the Hyundai ad five times. Next time I'll endeavour to get there 'normal' time.

Thought that might have been the case.  Pity.

Having experienced standing places ("Steheplatz") in Germany, I really don't know why the likes of UK (and here/Oz) don't have well monitored free-standing zones - really add to the atmpsphere (although to be fair it probably only works with modified stadiums - ie, no seats in designated zone - and German stadiums are just superb in allowing standing zones).

But that is another discussion for another time.

I know, I know, its serious!

experienced feverites ensure that they have an airline or ferry paper bag handy incase they are tragically within earshot when that aural emetic is inflicted on the hapless punters

The music and the atmosphere is decent about 2 minutes before kick off (loud music etc), but before that, as others have said, there are just crap ads on constantly (i.e. that one with the radio presenters singing Katie Perry among others) and they are so loud you can't even avoid them! Trying to sing over this nonsense would be next to impossible as well.

Thus, I don't bother getting there until as close to kick off as possible on most occasions.
