Im getting incrasingly worried about the upcoming season

We line up something like this:

--------Paston---------
Christie-O'Dor-Dodd-Lochhead
Ferrante-Brown-Aloisi-Daniel
-----Covs------Brownlie

Sorry but that worries me. Christie at RB is nothing short of a disaster. O'Dor is great, but I dont trust him to start, especially not next to Christie.

Covs is old, can he last 90 mins every week?

Brownlie aint very good, at all.

Someone assure me Ricki has quality lined up for these 4 positions?!

Nembo,

I can't garuntee anything.

Riki has been saying the usual politically neutral stuff about the signings to date, and there haven't been any noises frmo the club to suggest any great signings aronud the corner. I suspect that Campos and Daniel were supposed to be the big draw cards. . . . Although they do seem like very good players, I agree we need to fin at least two more really solid, class players to fill the roster out nicely.

Lochead's performance against Wales did not inspire me with confidence.

Nemo personally I think Lia would fit better at right back than Plodder.

I think the squad is stronger than last seasons Knights squad and they managed some really good results at the end of the season. As long as the players are motivated and try and play positively I don't see why they can't get some good results. Hopefully the next few signings have some pace, a wide right player or attacking fullback maybe??

Covs v Marcina - Marcina

About 4 vs. 4. Knights and Phoenix are pretty similar in terms of quality.

Do you mean Johnson v Johnson! I doubt Bunce is not as good as Dodd and sorry I'd have Dean Gordon instead of Lochead on the Wales performance too, which makes it a Knights win.

As far as i see it. Where i have the words "vacant" this means i dont think there are any signings capable sop far of filling these spots. I think people are underestimating the standard of the opposition. And if our next 2 signings are smeltz and brockie. i fear we will be seeing the knights in phoenix clothing.

Doubt that will happen as Terry is not one to jack it in,he likes winning as we all do and I think the backing he will provide will prove to better than any of the others were able to scrap together.

Yep success follows him wherever he goes...just like Mike Peterson (Minor Premiership with South Melbourne) he lasted 5 games with the Kingz, John Adshead (1982 World Cup hero and successful coach in Oman) last place with the Knights) and good old Paul Nevin (Leeds assistant coach) sacked half way thru last season). I agree that Seripisos is the man. He saved NZ pro football! But we need the players, because seriperos CANT save us when we simply dont have a good enough team to compete. Thats why these next 4 signings need to be awesome!!

You missed my point, that is if what has been put in place at present dosnt work.I doubt very much if he will just let it stumble along till it falls over.

Be positive guys, sure Lochead had an off day against Wales but he was a first team player for a while in the MLS. Alen Marcina can only make the second tier competition and he performed well for the Knights last year and im sure most of us wouldnt reject him playing here again. I remember Ryan Nelsen once get asked if NZ had any other good upcoming players to watch, the name he mentioned was Tony Lochead. I cant remember where I saw it, I will try find it again and post the link.

Also there is talk about Shane Smeltz signing, I haven't really seen him play that much so wont comment on whether he should be or not. But I just wanted to make the point of not writing him off due to his performances in England. Leo Bertos wasn't doing too well in his 2 or 3 seasons over there either, he played for about 5 clubs in 2 years and didnt play much. Bertos has proved himself in the A league. Is it true that Smeltz trialled for an English Championship club last year??

You, my friend, need your head checking.

Marcina was one of the bests forwards in this league when he was here, anyone that knows an ounce of football can acknowledge that. He is awesome.

Brownlie was crap V1, standards has increased, and he couldnt hold a position at Swindon Town. Brownlie is nowhere near Marcina

Covs and Embo will be pretty similar in terms of quality.

Theres a reason why Salley is at Adelaide and Aloisi is at Phoenix, because Salley is better.

These next signings for Herbert are absolutely crucial. We really need two quality defenders and two quality attackers (preferably Alen Marcina as one of those attackers). Don't know if Damian Mori can still hack it at this level, but last year he was 36 (I think) and he played well. If Mori can hack it, however, then I would be happy to see our next two forwards be him and Marcina.

how can u guys be judging players you havnt seen like daniel...... you guys are right prats if your basing players on there looks or that they can do 5 headers in a row

Totally disagree, I was in Brisbane for V1 and Brownlie did a great job there, they were sad to see him go. I admit that he doesn't look the 'typical starry player' but geez he can cause some trouble and score goals from nothing. I'm very happy with his signing.

Oh dear i am getting more worried now. Smelta seems a formality. I wonder if theres any other conference league rejects floating about? He scored 2 goals over the entire season for halifax. Y cant ppl see hes average

Sorry CelticFc either your extremely immature, or just brain-dead, but if he's as good or remotely as good as Gao he'll be awesome in this league. Its a prediction, you think we will get in the top 4 so that kinda cancels out anything decent you have to say

I Agree, I think for the 17 players we got now, only 7 of them are on higher money: Dodd, Aloisi, Lockhead, Brown, Coveny & the two brazillians. The rest are all cheap to get especially the likes of Christie, Costa, Old etc. So given that we have the full $2million salary availalbe I think Herbert will spend a big chunk of it on the other 2 imports.

And remember, you can't compare a team by comparing individual players one by one. If you put Kaka in the Knights last season and compare them with Melbourne you will find 1 vs 10 but they will be more likely to win the game. And...the Knights in the last 7 games last season were the 3rd strongest team in the League, if we can score 4vs4 now and given we got 2 more quality imports to come, WE ARE LOOKING GOOD!

Watching training at Ole this arvo Daniel certainly looks to have the goods (from my limited knowledge). Good vision, nice touch, great movement and knows how to find the back of the net regularly in simple training 6-a-side games. Not bad for a Brazilians first kick around on a chilly Porirua arvo.....

It's OK to rate our players at the moment but to predict how we will go without having played any games as a team or having finalised the squad is a bit pointless. Nonetheless I feel quite confident that it is starting to come together, still injuries etc. may play a part so will have to wait and see. I think the whole season hinges on getting a couple of out and out star quality players in there. I think Ricki has played his cards well so far and am looking forward to the final few announcements. Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!
