REMEMBER: A goal is scored when the whole of the ball passes over the goal line, between
the goalposts and under the crossbar, provided that no infringement of the
Laws of the Game has been committed previously by the team scoring the
goal.

Nice picture editing 2B. Based on those I'd say it's doubtful the whole ball crossed the line.

Thinking it is no goal.
First photo shows still on line so no goal.
Second photos shows ball in the air with a shadow on line. If you take shadow of Manny's left leg or boot as a reference, the shadow lands just slightly further away from goal. So still think no goal

Awesome photos, but you can't definitely be sure that those photos are taken of the last possible frame. The above photos show the ball is not fully across the line. But we cannot judge based on those alone.

Should point out that in the bits I cropped out, there is noone behind Manny, so the only thing stopping the lino from seeing the ball is Manny's foot.

Great shots. It does not matter if it was over or not, it did not count.

Based on those pics which I've seen Aussies use as evidence for it being a goal I'd say no goal.

Blatantly a goal but glad it wasn't awarded!

Goal.
Three for me, and two for them.

No goal. On the behind the goal replay Mannys foot stays on or above the white line, not inside the goal itself.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Think it was a goal, well in my opinion I would have given it if I had the view of that image

you have to look at angles to know whether it got in or not.
The shadow of the ball is on the line, so the whole ball couldn't have gotten over, the ball would have to have been past the line a lot more, and it wasn't. No goal.

Goal. The light comes from behind and throws the shadows forward, so the ball is further back than the shadow and behind the line. Just saying

Not any chance that is a goal.
Unless that ball took a sudden sharp turn to the left as it rolled along the line (after the second image), the two images clearly show it is running along the line.

LOL at you all trying to justify the decision, can just imagine the angst if it was us that had been denied.Keep them blinkers on everyone.

Doesn't throw it that much forward. look at the shadows of manny's left boot.

Great shots 2B, I think that there is doubt with the still (still)
Here is the replay of the goals and a slow mo of the ball, which Ross Aloisi thinks has crossed the line and is a goal

Not given, I'm ok with that, I dont think it is decisive one way or the other actually

In fact, go check out where the light source is. It's coming from just behind the corner flag. If the lights were directly behind the goal then it probably would be a goal. But it is coming from just left of the corner flag.

Interesting synopsis. Isnt that the shadow of the bar ahead of them tho, if not what? Light would need to be well behind them and above for that to happen, more like well left of corner flag.
LOL at minute investigations, reminds me of the offsides at the World Cup

^^ This. This still photo is inconclusive because the key frame is missing - the one where Manny actually makes contact with the ball. Manny's foot is still a fair way from the ball and the ball is already mighty close to being totally over the line. You really need a freeze frame of the moment where Manny actually kicked it.
But all this is moot really. With the benefit of still images and magnification we still aren't sure so you really couldn't have blamed the officials either way - and we got the rub of the green.
If I were Fury I'd be more peeved about the penalty (Manny on Williams). That was a stonewaller in my opinion.

well compared to greenies one vs jets, this one looked more like a goal

The chance of getting a clean sheet at a Phoenix game is about the same as finding one at a brothel.

The goal cameras that they had in the Adelaide - Sydney game the other night would be very helpful. Hopefully they can implement them into every game.
Just more for the fact that it would stop arguments like this.
Just had a thought.
They put camera's inside wickets in cricket. How hard would it be to put them inside the goal posts? Maybe left or right posts looking in, and one on the crossbar looking down?
Obviously the images wouldn't be shown in the stadium, but to those at home and the commentators, it could be usueful.
The images would be unable to be used to try and get the goals disallowed if the clubs wanted to have a cry. Because the referee's call on goals is final and cant be overturned right?
