Can it get any worse? Oh well I guess we could be 8th!

Seriously though. I am pretty disappointed that the Phoenix didnt just rock into the A-league and shoot to the top against all predictions. Realistically of course history in football just isn't that simple.

I think Ricki is a great coach, and this is really going to bring the best out of him I hope. The second season was always going to be easier for Ricki. In theory he can strengthen his squad by removing the weaker players and replacing them with better players.

But what for this season? Is he able to pull off one or two transfers that may help swing the odds back in his favour? Or is he just going to have to grind the best out of what we got in our stables. Has he got the tactics to tackle our weaknesses and enhance our strengths.

It is going to be an interest remainder of the season. I can't wait!

If we build it, they will come...

Its all a learning curve. It helps us fans get ourselves organised too! Next season is definately a season ticket purchase. Have the hat, the scarf, the flag, the retro tee shirt. Yep, getting myself organised.

The team were always gonna get a few tonkings. But they have held their own too losing a few by just one and that 4-1 win eh? Who'll forget the atmosphere at the stadium that game? Absolutely brilliant.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

On average in football you'd say that 1 out of 2 signings works out for most managers.  Ricki has had one set of signings - so it's is within reason to expect the club to only have, in real terms, half a squad.

The other 7 A-League sides have each had several opportunities to refine their playing lists.

Give it time.

I wouldn't say that, I'd say that on average it depends on the manager and the scouting team.

exactly - when a club has 2 months to sign a squad of 23 players, from nothing, they should be getting it right straight away.  It is a no brainer.

If we aren't top by Xmas, we should stage a sit in at the ring, and start singing 'Sack the Board'

This topic is crazy.  Most of us are stoked with where the team is.  Lets not get downhearted over a few losses.  In general this club has done so many good things and brought football forward and into the proffessional era.  We have some great players to watch, we have a core of kiwi's in the team, we play an attractive style and score goals and lastly the crowds and noise are superb.  Most of us would have taken 7th at the start of the season, and I for one will still be happy with that.  sure i'd love them to push for a play off spot but true supports have their team and stick with it for life.  Because of that I know in the next season we will deal with our defensive issues.  Our team will only get better and better as time goes.

most of us are being sarcastic on this thread.  The problem is that it is only most of us.

that'll never work, we always stand at the stadium plus imagine security trying to check your all in your actual seat  and asking you to move on if your not

Go through the signings of just about any club and any manager in the professional game...  The GOOD ones are right about 50% of the time.

I think a few people didn't quite get the topic or my first post(except Frankie Mac).

I am looking forward to the challenge we have in front of us. For Ricki, the individual players and the patient and loyalty of the fans.

Just thinking about this thread again - tongue in cheek...  Pre-season, how many here would have settled for one place below Melbourne at this point in the season?

Jeez guys, the Nix are what six points off second place with half a season left. That can be made up in two games. A bit of perspective is required.
