Hi fans of Wellington Phoenix!

Let me introduce myself, I am 28 years old Danish football fanatic currently in NZ on a working holiday visa and as part of my traveling I always go for a football game in the countries I visit. I have been a passionate football fan for my entire life and absolutely love to experience different cultures around different teams in different countries. I am a huge fan of FC Copenhagen and used to be have a season pass and be an active fan before I left Denmark, I always bring this energy with me with as I believe that is how football should be experienced; shouting on your feet.

I post here to ask if some of you might be interested in letting me join your group for the game against Central Coast Mariners, I'd be happy to shout a few pints at the pub or whatever pre/post game tradition you might have! I don't know your chants yet, but I'd be happy to learn and shout them with you on Saturday.

Good luck night as well!

Finding your way here is great start. Suggest you find out where the Backbencher Pub is as thats where a lot of the fever guys will be before the game sure one of them will post at some stage best time to get there.Welcome and hope the Zone can turn it on for you.

I don't speak for the YellowFever (not sure that anyone really does) and usually sit an aisle adjacent but in my experience they are welcoming and friendly bunch who will be more than happy a fellow football fan to join the throng.

I don't think there are any gatekeepers or permission required, rock up to Aisle 22 at the stadium or I presume the Backbencher(?) is still the bar of choice for pre-game drinks.

The more the merrier and welcome to New Zealand. I hope you are enjoying yourself!

Yes as others have mentioned, a lot of us met at a bar called the Backbencher before heading down to the stadium for the game. Aisle to be in is the Fever Zone in 22. Come and join us and join in the singing.

After the game this weekend their is likely to be a special presentation for our captain Andrew Durante who becomes the first player in the league to play 300 games. The bar after the game where the team and fans go is The Churchill

I'm an optimistic pessimist.
I'm positive things will go wrong.

Enjoy it down here mate! Don't want to jinx anything but yeah hopefully a goal fest for us, Mariners are the worst team in the league by a distance so hoping for a big result with some great football being played

To bring this back to topic, Lindrup as others have said, a number of the Fever girls and boys meet at the Backbencher pub on the corner of Molesworth Street and Kate Sheppard Place, in the back bar. I reckon you come by after 6.

You may also interest to watch a Team Wellington Game on Sunday 2pm at David Farrington Park in Miramar.

This is the local Premiership club, they will be only a small crowd, but it is good quality and fun to watch and you are very close to the action.

Awesome, thanks for this answer (and all the others). I'll be at the Backbencher pub on Saturday! Do I need to buy ticket before getting to the stadium?

This, if you have a smart mobile phone. Buy through Ticketek and can just request a mobile ticket. Also use code Phoenix18 for a discount as well

Good to see another Dane here.

If you're in the Auckland area (Eden Park) for the game against Melbourne Victory (Friday 15th Feb), I'll shout you a Tuborg or two.

Guess if you want to leave it right to the last minute, that will be handy.

Yes, I made it! Went to Backbencher, and just walked up (with a beer in my hand) to the friendliest looking group and started talking with them. I had a great time both before, after and during the game (came home at 4 am).  Got invited to join for the Team Wellington game on sunday but a combination of a hangover and it being my mom's last day in NZ I didn't go.

Thanks to everyone I talked to, it is always a huge pleasure to experience different football cultures. If any of you ever make it to Denmark, let me know and I'd be happy to help out with finding a game or other touristy advice.

I'll drop by again next time I am in Wellington!

Glad you enjoyed the Fever experience.

It's not a Fever night out without cutting shapes at Danger Danger, and cut shapes you did.

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.
