I didnt bash netball, I was saying drawing with italy in soccer is far bigger than winning a netball test, because of the size of the sport. I remember when the Kiwis won the league world cup in 2008 and didnt even get nominated, head Jud...ge Brendan Telfer said League didnt get nominated because of the size of the sport is too smallworldwide.
Pesonally I think the kiwis should of got nominated for winning their worldcup and have been nominated this year for their victroy in the four nations. I would still give it to the all whites.See More

to quote you "who the heck cares about netball" ... and "if any sports fan thinks beating Australia at Netball is a bigger acheivement, then there is something wrong with the average sports fan mentally" ... my first point is.. there are a ...huge amount of people who care about netball. head down to any netball court in new zealand on a saturday in the winter and you will see that for yourself. my second point is it was not just a netball "test" it was the commonwealth games. same competitors as world champs. they are currently the best team in the world. yes, there aren't as many competitors but it doesn't make netball any less of a sport. the physicality is just as demanding and im sure their fitness is up to the standards of the All Whites if you paid any attention. just because netball is a female based sport doesn't mean it deserves to be downgraded by you or anyone else. it's a sport, just like your beloved soccer with larger achievements.See More

We all love football, and that is great but it doesn't mean that it is better than any other sport or has any divine right to win any awards. If netball gets more votes and wins it means that the combined number of netball supporters and people interested in sport who thought that them winning was the best moment of the year outnumber the combined number of football supporters and the who thought that our Winnie's goal was the best moment of the year. So good on them.
In all honesty, I imagine that someone like Ryan Nelsen doesn't sit around in his giant mansion watching �40k come into his bank account every week thinking "I hope I win the Halberg". I imagine that as much as he says all the right things about the award, it ulimately doesn't mean a great deal to him. So why do so many people on here get so worked up about it?

Keep voting for the all whites it will be sickening if netball beats the all whites for sports moment.
As a single moment I wouldn't have a problem with netball getting it. A moment is just that. It doesn't matter that they only had to beat Australia, as a moment, that single game is one of the best there has ever been.
I think that the All whites deserve Team of the year, and that 3 draws at the world cup was infinitely more impressive than a netball world championship, but as a moment a double overtime win against your biggest rivals is right up there.

As an aside, anyone follow Doug Golightly on Twitter? Hes urging people to vote for the Kiwis because they showed guts and didn't get lucky like the All Whites did in that dour round ball code. I will put 50 million dollars on the fact he was not saying anything like that while the World Cup was on. It sickens me that people like him have influential positions in our sporting media.

People are led by the media, and that is the part is sickening, I will go back to 2008, Telfer and the like explained to the public that league didnt get nominated in 2008 for their world cup win, because only a few countries play it and the sport is actually worthless (telfers words) yet they talk up the silver ferns.
