How much petrol did you use from Wellington to Auckland..?
Cheers, Ben.

Usually a fill in Wellington, north of Hamilton (Ngaruawahia or
Huntly) and somewhere like Te Kuiti on the way home. These
days it would probably be about $180 of 98 Octane.
It's fair to say I can be a little heavy on gas usage though, and Subaru Boxer engines aren't the most economical engine.

Awesome so a nice little economic car we're talking about $150. Also, how much time, 8 hours?

Usually I could be on the Shore in 8 hours, even for a Friday night
game.
Still, I'd allow 9 so you can stop for a nosh and a break on the way, and ensuring you maintain the speed limit. Also, travel via Taumaranui...
Auckland, Huntly, Ngaruawahia (turn off to) Pirongia, in at Otorohanga, Te Kuiti, Taumaranui, National park, Ohakune, Waiouru and then SH1.

sh*t man how did you manage every game? You must've took heaps of
time off work.
Yeah Syd will do. Its only in its planning stages, but we will be going down. Booked a couple of flights yesterday, 1 on the 16th November and one of the 30th. Cheap flights - $78 return cant go wrong.

Knights and last season of the Kingz it was only about half the
matches. V3 and V4 of the Kingz was a bit ugly... (V1 and V2
I was in Hamilton).
On the positive side I've got stacks of leave now.

Best I did was 5.55 home from Mt Smart. Used to love those late
Sunday afternoon games, no traffic all the way home.
My
Camry had a 70 ltr tank so it was full up Wgtn and full up Auck, no
stopping.

And Hard News, when did you ever stick to the speed
limit.

The Pug died on me thrice in it's life.
Once just after I got it in the middle of State Highway 1 in Hamilton on my way to the Opening game of the U-17 World Cup (not my fault, previous owner put the wrong battery in and it shorted on the bonnet and set fire to the sound dampening).
Once due to water in the electrics at some Hamilton shops...
...and once in the middle of Lower Hutt on the way to watched Petone play Lower Hutt at the Memorial Ground.
Even when the head gasket went I drove it into the mechanics. It had to come out on a tow truck but it went in on it's own.
I miss it...

I'm just going to put my two cents in and say ur commited guys. and
i feel for you as the bus ride home was depressing enough (as i was
thinking about the guttering loss) but 8 hours...ud be able to
replay every minute 5 times in your head.

Knowing how much she's cost the Ultra, the similarities are large !
The intersting thing is you would think that it would be cheaper for me living in the same city as the club, but thanks to the Backbencher, Fever lounge, Electric Avenue, Wellington public transport and the rest of the Fever executive leading me astray, it is costing me more.

You're not kidding there Hard News. We used to meet up at some pub
in Onehunga for breaky/lunch before heading off to Mt Smart, it was
much cheaper drinking Coffee/Coke/Orange Juice than booze before
and after a game. I must say the food at Mt Smart had more taste
(it had taste) than that crap at Westpac and was also
cheaper. In those days petrol was 90 odd cents a ltr. You could get
to the game and back, buy tickets and food etc and only spend $150
for the whole trip.
Now that pug of yours hmmm was never keen to join you in that
beast.
