Quote from the Melbourne Age
"Queensland is second with 23 points, and its coach, former Socceroo boss Frank Farina, believes 28 points will be enough to guarantee a finals berth because the closeness of the competition means that all teams will continue to take points off each other."
We are currently on 12 points
Which means that we need 16 points minimum from our remaining 8 games,
ie 5 wins and 1 draw
4 wins and 4 draws
It is still on!!

Yep, we're still very much in the hunt. Considering the way we've
been playing recently, we have the ability to win every one of our
remaining games. Some more consistency and composure and we could
still be in the run Inter rocks2007-11-19 22:43:23

its hardly like the other teams are a bunch of blind muppets
though. granted we r playing well but with the exception of perth i
would say we go into most matches as underdogs. 16 points is very
gettable but my god it will be a challenge

Optimism is always good, but finishing 5th or 6th wouldnt be too
bad either...
Lets take it game by game, shall we?
Sure, finals would be great, but i just dont see us pushing
ourselves to make the top 4. Central Coast, Adelaide, Melbourne,
Queensland, and even the dirty jets look like amazing teams, and
for us to win 5 out of the next 8 against these teams is a bit of
stretch...
...but with all my heart, i want this to happen, lets go
ricki, get these nix off to another running start this
weekend...Melbourne who?

True we have never looked too flash playing away from home...but we did stich up more wins away from home than at the ring of fire.Melbourne is struggling. I think we have a chance against them

Against the top four (CCM, Queensland, Adelaide and Newcastle) we
have a record of 1 draw and 7 losses in eight matches.
Against the teams in the bottom half of the table we have a record
of three wins and two draws. This suggests we are competitive
in the league, but need a step up to compete for and in the play
offs. I don't think it will happen this season (hope to be
proved wrong of course) but if experience and a little squad
strengthening work we ought to be able to improve that record
against the top clubs next season. Then the play offs beckon.

ya also bearing in mind how some of those losses came about, were
competitive indeed, just need to work on composure, which will come
with more team experience in general

All we asked of the boys this year was to be competitive and I
think we've achieved that. Very good base to work from.
