Call me a grinch, but does anyone else think it a bit odd that the back page of the DomPost had both the match report and an opinion piece on Ricki Herbert's contract extension?

Sort of right hand left hand (we don't know what we're doing) stuff.

I think there were some valid points in the opinion piece/editorial but back page wasn't really the place for it.  Might have been better mid-week tucked away.

I just felt it detracted from a great win and good write up of that.

Both pieces were written by fred Woodcock aswell, seems starnge to run the articles side by side, as if he is contradicting himself.

Hmm i'm not so thrilled with the news.

My question: Why sign him up so early on in this season?

Should we not wait a little bit longer to see what develops in the way of results and what-not?

Something smells fishy and its not me.

Maybe RH has had some one else showing interest in him or has started talking to NZF about his AW future. You never know, if Terry really wanted to keep him (even just for this season) it might have meant he had to do something now to keep him.

Yeah i heard Miramar u 12's were looking for a coach.

But then again, Ricki is well under-qualified.

The only thing hes won is the hot dog eating contest at mayberry fare  in 83'.

What we should be looking at is making sure that our better performing players have their contracts extended before others can come in for offers. Don't want a repeat of last season.
