5 from 5. If we kept this up we would end up with about 27 points which I estimate would have us 7th or 8th. Remembering we have had only 2 home games too.
I'd have to say we are below par. But looking at the table, we still aren't too far off and are on level with Melbourne and Adelaide ~ finalists last year.

It's easy to compare to Melbourne and Adelaide who are doing badly, but look at Newcastle who were bottom last year?

I think we are doing alright- obviously can do better. Things look promising. We are creating alot more chances this year. It can only get better.

Against the stated ambition for top six, a bit below below par and a loss v Melbourne would have us definately below where we want to be and likely with a gap opening on the table.
Potential's there though, some exciting footy being played for spells, but CAM/striker hole will hurt all season if it's not solved.

We definately have the potential to hit the top six - Adelaide were marking Greenacre like they would Smeltz and that gave Ifill heaps of space for his nice goal(s), once we get teams to realise they can't just mark one striker and keep us out of the game their going to have to start playing zonal defense and that might help our case.
In the 5 games so far I'm not happy about having only 5 points, but I'm confident that (Sydney game aside) if we keep playing positively the results and combinations will start coming... and bring the points with them.

Probably a little below 'on par'. If we had won against Adelaide i'd be feeling a lot different.
The league is very, very close like usual. Performance wise we are up there and can compete, imo, with every team. Results wise we are not going good enough. (which, in the end, is what matters)
Think that this team and squad is by far the most balanced we've had so far. Ifill was a brilliant signing.

Below par. We were poor against Newcastle and Sydney and needed to show more teeth to get three points against Brisbane and Adelaide (admit I did not see yesterdays game). It is the third season now, we have done well with recruitment (Diego and Chen excepted), it is time to be more ambitious and aim at top four.

Not going too well points and performance wise but we are building nicely and the squad is beginning to click. We're on track and will be able to start stringing wins together in the next few rounds and beyond.
You know we belong together...

I am going to be first to say this, but I think we starting to have a reputation of a club that finish with a better second half of the season than the first half of the season. So I have to concede that we were below par in performance and that 5 points in 5 matches is below what we should be.

Diego, I agree, looks shaky. But how can you right off Chen?
Let's reserve judgement until we've seen him play!
Or do you know something the rest of us don't!

More than most on here I'd say. Check SC03's location. He's seen him play

if our away record was nearly as good our home we would be right up there. we need to get our away form sorted and then we'd definitely be a top four finish

So is sc03 saying that Chen is crap?

No, I don't know much about his level of ability to be honest but he has a reputation for ill-discipline, in a team which has a reputation for being one of the least disciplined in a very ill-disciplined league! Therefore a risky signing.

My assessment of the season so far;
Against Newcastle and Sydney poor
Against Roar - poor first half, very good second half
Against Perth - good
Against Adelaide - good first half, average second half.
Overall we have shown we can play but have, generally, not delivered to our potential.
Highlights; Ifill, Greenacre, Leo, and scoring every game
Lowlights; Too many soft goals, back 4 not yet up to the standard they played last season, the same midfield issues we had at the start of last season (couldn't get a settled and performing line-up) and Diego.
Where to from here; Get our sh*t together on the road - play like we want to win not like we hope to hold on for a draw and maybe steal a win, back 4 (all of them) mark like they mean it and get to the ball first and sort out the midfield line-up.
He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Well, hopefully this can be channeled into high energy play rather than sticking the nut on the first person who goes near him!

We have yet to have a clean sheet. Only Fury have yet to have a clean sheet too.
I am happy with the intent of how we play, most games we have dominated possession and try play the ball out from the back. We are creating chances (lots of half chances), so a pass mark at this stage.
