How to spread the word?

G'day guys,

Firstly, sorry if this thread is in the wrong section.

I'm interested in creating a home end much like the Yellow Fever for North Queensland FC. I'm looking for any advice from you lads about how I can get the word out. I myself and amazed and impressed at how the Yellow Fever have grown and will be ecstatic if NQFC's home end is anything like the Yellow Fever.

How did the creators of the YF get the word out, introduce people to active support etc. All help is appreciated, cheers.

welcome

the yf originals will have a few ideas but there is heaps of experience on here.
one thing i would mention is that it has to be uniquely yours, you can't just transplant the Wgtn or Engl experience. learn from it, sure, but make it your own or it will stink of trying to hard

Get a good core group of lads (and ladies) together, gets some songs organized. A pub session is a good way to get the idea's flowing, stand in a tight group at the game and sing your hearts out regardless of how the games going and you'll find like minded supporters will gravitate to you.

Get the local paper (well the football part of the local paper) on side and when you have initiatives or events make sure they know so they can cover it and raise the profile of the club.

Remember they will think it's novel and different and that makes it more newsworthy.

Quality of supporters website shouldn't be ignored either.  This place is great for Phoenix support but a chance for regional football and most football in NZ to have a focal point is a huge plus for the game (and us) as well.

Cheers mate. Will get stuck into it. I've contacted North Queensland Razorbacks (our QSL club), so hopefully get on board. I've created a forum (albeit a probaords forum) as a starting point. I'm too dense to create a website and a proper forum so this'll have to do. As more and more supporters join, I'll definetely get in contact with the Papers. They actually rang me to do an interview an article about the Thunder when that bid was around, so I reckon getting a bit of media coverage for our supporters group shouldn't be too hard.

good luck, I hope that having three Brissy clubs doesn't water down the support for you or any of the other HAL teams up there.

Good to see that you Aussies know to come to the best if you want to be the best

Just going to be known as North Queensland FC, and unofficially as 'the fury' from what I understand.

Queensland is a huge state mate, and us northerners hate the blokes down south so it's unlikely our support will be 'watered down'.

Yeah I've been thoroughly impressed with the Yellow Fever at the Nix matches and the way that they've got the community's support behind them.

Fury... oh.

Meh, could be worse.

It's unofficial though, won't be recognised by the FFA etc.

At least it's not something like the Mariners or Roar.

Good news: A meeting has been set up for tomorrow between a representative of the NQFC supporters and a club representative. Main agenda that will be discussed is were the home end will be situated (which at this stage could quite possibly be on the hill).

Will let you know how it goes
