How would you rate this season?

Lead in music as the players run out I can handle. But why at Westpac is it so loud? The half empty stadium amplies it and it's so loud it's annoying. Sorry but ZMFM might be a sponsoir but they are the 4th or 5th rate station for good reasons - Their music choices.

It got worse at the end of the season. The last game in particular saw the volume for adverts set at ear-splitting levels. To maintain a conversation with the guy in the row in front required both of us to shout. Completely unnecessary.

There is a difference between accepting that our squad probably wasn't good enough to make the top 4 and being 'happy' with being 6th like some people are.

I'm happy that we maintained our challenge for the playoffs right until the last game of the season. I'm not especially happy that we finished 6th, but the fact that we were in the hunt until the end is the reason I rated the season as good overall.

This season is a stepping stone, and our best result so far. End of story

There is quite a sense of irony in the fact that we had a chance to make the play offs on the last game of the season where as Sydney did not, yet they finish above us

That is more telling than looking at a table and saying 'We finished 6th'

One other thing for next season, can they shut the f**ken music off before, during and after the game? Play Piney's match commentary instead if you have to play something.

ZMFM should be banned from the stadium and why do they have to play it so friggen loud??

We're not deaf, there's not 34,000 people there making sh*t loads of noise. Kill the music, I dont want it everytime there's a gap in the play and we dont need it before the game. And I dont need the loudness when playing the TV comvercials either. And I bet I am not alone.

+1 I hate the music, being a tad deaf I cannot hear what people are saying at half time.

Who do we get onto to sort this sort of complaint out? Or should I say, who with any push do we contact to have such things stopped?

the only music they play during the game is Carnival de Paris when we score - which goes off.

LG's main complaint, which is wholly justified, was the volume of the adverts at half-time. At the final home game, it was absolutely deafening. They started to do the same after the match too, which was annoying as we wanted to cheer the lads off after the final home game of the season.

I could fix the problem of course with a pair of side cutters if I knew which lead was carrying the signal! LOL

I mean I try to listen to Piney and Chote warming up for the match on 106.4fm and get drowned out.

Annoying before the game too! Only exception I agree with is the moment when the players come out for the kickoff.

The season was better than average - we had a fighting chance to make the top 4. Any season where you finish like that is a good one IMO. Same happens to a lot of teams in a lot of larger competitions ... it only looks bad because the A-League has bugger all teams (ie. 6th out of 14 instead of 6th out of 8 or 10).

The signings we had this year didn't pay off. I think we really missed Felipe, as he gave us what we had with Fred, and Gao should never return to NZ ever again. Kwasnik, not sure what the story was with him, didn't fire for most of the season, don't know whether he'll last next season.

Good signs, Costa and Leo running forward with the ball. McKain being adventurous and running with the ball. Dodd, Muscat, and Siggy were tireless on defence and were generally outstanding. People write off Muscat, but I rate his work over Durante's efforts on getting so many yellow cards (and the two goals Durante cost us against Queensland).

Not sure what's with Daniel's fitness, but he played well the last few games, if it's injury or other concerns that are keeping on the bench, can only hope it picks up next year.

Diego next season. Hopefully Fred will return also. Not sure who they are looking at for strikers, but this team is far from bottom of the table material.

Teams that have been in the competition longer than us are bottom of the table. That's a good story for a 2-year old football club, in any part of the world.

ads pay the bills. What peeves me off is that you go to WC or Euro and they have great ads that are enjoyable to watch. Here they are dogsht. Watching the big screen show rugby in the stadium advert after the game is a joke.

I agree to a point however other teams quickly figured out that if they gave him a tickle up early on, that kept him quiet. He wasn't sufficiantly protected by the officials either and it soon became obvious what other teams plans with Felipe were. In the 1st 5mins of the game, someone would knock him on his backside, then a diff player would do the same within succession. From there, he had no effect on the game because he did not like the physical style of the A League ala Juniho said when he was at Sydney. As a consequence, Felipe was far less effective later in the season than earlier on.

Felipe also seemed to bring out a better player in Daniel but again hard to quantify this year because there seems to be speculation as to whether or not Daniel was actually fully fit.

Isn't that known to be one of Diego's main failings and the reason that he's done so poorly so far Downunder - he doesn't like the physical side of A-League football? So what are other teams going to do next season every game? Give him a "Felipe"!

Daniel had the same problems with the rugged style of play until he learned to toughen up a bit and stop the "dying swan" dives. And Diego will come to us after two seasons already in this league.

Shouldn't we all be a bit more nervous than we are about the Nix signing him?

We seem to be missing the point a bit here. The issue was not with there being ads - that's a whole different discussion that has not been raised. The issue raised was not with the quality of the ads - again, a different discussion.

The issue was that the volume level of the adverts, in the last game particularly, were migraine inducing. Unless Feverish is claiming that the remuneration from the ads was linked to loudness, the complaint that LG and I were making remains.

Seriously, when the volume of an ad is at more decibels than a Metallica concert, it's a problem. They didn't have them set to a "Spinal Tap 11" earlier in the season or last season. Hopefully, some idiot leant on the control panel and jogged the volume with his fat arse and we won't get a repeat exercise in testing how easy it is to damage our hearing.

Perhaps it's not surprising that there is an element of "settling for mediocrity" among some, given the less than impressive record of NZ involvement in Oz football leagues. Forming a whole new football club on the back of these failures demands a healthy dose of realism from everyone from Serepisos at the top right down to the humblest fan.

So far just about every aspect of how the Phoenixhas beenrun and maintained has impressed me: management, coaching, players, fanbase, etc. It's obvious there are many Kiwis, and Australians, involved with big ambitions for the club, so I kind of feel like it's in the safe handsof quietly confident and capable people. Don't forget too that almost every other club's supportersthis year have had good reason to whinge - I don't even need to name them because with the possible exception of Adelaide they've all been crap in patches.

I don't think I'm necessarily accepting mediocrity. I think I'm being realistic. I'm happy the team has improved on last year, but also expect to see continued improvement next season.

There are definitely areas that need working on, and I hope they are addressed. The club started at a disadvantage compared with the competition and, on the pitch at least, still haven't caught up. however, that excuse can't (and shouldn't) be used for too much longer, if at all.

Yes, missing out on the playoffs is disappointing. However, expectations of producing League-winning team overnight is the sort of thing that belongs to the owners of Real Madrid, Chelsea, Gold Coast and Football Manager.
