Before this game some of you hinted that there might be a ticketing fiasco and the queues backing up several hundred 20 mnutes ater the game had started suggested something was not quite right.

Was this because JoePublic (myself  included!) made the seriously bad call f turning up at 3.30 or could the ticket offices have operated quicker?

Clearly TV schedule was more important than fans, as KO was not delayed.

Quite hearbreaking to see little kids being baled out with their parents after standing patiently for 30 minutes.

Thanks to the fella who sold me the spare ticket...and extra big thanks for not taking advantage of having a few 'spares'.

Perhaps if ticketek hadn't munted the season pass process, then those people who were trying to salvage that balls- up could have been used to let other people into a real football game in New Zealand

hopefully the performance on the pitch will get some of those who queued fro 30 mins back, those that baled ... ?? who knows (I guess we better just rave about the game at work tomorrow - shouldn't be too hard to do!!!!!!)

I imagine someone in the club will be asking a few questions when the euphoria of the comeback dies down

Still for those of us that were lucky enough to get our season passes and arrived at 3.15 out of  paranoia it was all good

GREAT BLOODY GAME!! GREAT ATTITUDE SHOWN BY THE LADS!!! WE DESERVE TO BE FEARED IN THIS LEAGUE!!!!!

That absolutely sucks if the numbers were lower than they could have been due to ticketing issues. I went down at 2pm to get my paper tickets (still haven't received the gold season pass).

After waiting 40 minutes to get the season pass I'd already paid for, I got just the ticket to this match and it wasn't even close to where I'd asked for. At least I was lucky enough to be in by kick off.

Decided to go over on the far side of the ground as a result as did many others.

Total shambles - still want to see my season ticket and also get it changed to one that is where I want it.

The lines were SHOCKING. But people should have pre ordered - I think everyone underestimated how many people would turn up. The amount of people rocking up 20 mins before the start of the game and expecting to get a ticket easily was pretty pathetic.

Of course it wouldn't be delayed - you'd be stupid to think so. That's the nature of televised sport.

Huh very disappointing, I heard yesterday (on Radio sport, think it was Kath H-W) that there were only around 2,000 pre-sales, maybe too many fans expected to just walk up and get in

I have to agree with you

I would never turn up to something like that and just assume I could purchase a ticket and walk in

Got family season ticket its in the yellow fever area

Its not just the people walking up. Ticketek would not sell tickets this morning. they would only accept season pass sales and even then you had to pick them up from the stadium + fill in a form. Many people had brought tickets but still had to wait a good 20 minutes in line to pick up the tickets they had paid for

What's wrong with showing up an hour before kick-off? There's plenty to do and enjoy. Last minute arrivals deserve last minute treatment. Mind you ticket tec are not the most user friendly company either.

I believe I spotted him exploding in a little ball of football related joy with Frankie Mac at the Backbencher shortly before parental responsibility sent me home.

I try not to, but seeing as I started at 11:30 this morning and had the junior news dropped to me there at three, I thought I'd get in trouble for telling Mrs. News to come and get him so I could keep drinking.

I think that they should have just opened up the gates and let everyone in!

Some of you are missing the point that even people who bought tickets days earlier were told they had to pick them up at the stadium - and then there were only two people there to hand them out. It was a shambles - and I allowed an hour to get a ticket I'd already purchased and got in five minutes before kick off.

So the point is - why did you have to go to the ground to get the ticket? Secondly why were there more people out there dealing with the pre-paid tickets - after all they knew how many they had sold.

I must say i think i was one of the lucky ones after a battle over the weeks with season tickets i managed to get in just before kick off but spent 20 mintues looking for my seats which i was told would be I 27 4 seats from the front,But guess what!! they were 4 seats from the back .Any one got a telescope??

I arrived late but know the stadium well and have parking by the office so I know the ins and outs of getting to and from my seat. But the crowd that was outside waiting to get in was insane and I have never seen it like this before. Would have been a good couple of thousands and I thought they might delay the start but they didnt. Lots of security outside the gates as well. Was told afterwards they underestimated the walk-up crowd. I think it will get better and people might realise to turn up earlier.

I was one of the lucky ones whose silver season pass arrived a week ago. But the barcode didn't actually work and I had to be let in through the gates, and then the seat I was allocated was not where I was told it was going to be.

All said and done, I got in and was able to enjoy the experience by sitting near the goal the Phoenix were attacking in each half.

Ticketek... this is piss poor and I will never use your services for anything else ever again, and I will be asking you for a refund of the service fee.

We acknowledge that ticketing queues were less than ideal.

We had every ticket sale window open including opening additional sale windows in the portacom (even the Stadium CEO David Gray was selling tickets which he admits streached his maths skills to the limit).

Gate sales were also opened an hour early during the morning at 11am so that fans could avoid queues before kick-off.

However Football fans must understand that if 7,000 of you are going to leave your purchase of tickets untill 45-30 minutes before kick-off you are going to face queues.

Only 3,300 fans pre-purchased despite the tickets being cheaper than gate sales. Please assist us to make your match experiance more enjoyable by not leaving your decision to attend the game until the last minute.

You even get the option of greater choice of were you can sit.

Please understand the logic of pre-buy = less anxiety at the gate.

I think the point is you completely failed to cater for those fans who bought a ticket in advance and were told they had to go to the stadium to pick them up.

Tried to ring Ticketek this morning but they don't answer their phones and the message that they'll ring back in two hours is clearly not accurate.

Still no season ticket, don't have a seat where I asked for it and even the Phoenix are suggesting the size of the walk up crowd was the issue. Sorry that doesn't expplain why you had completely inadequate number handling the people you knew were coming to pick up a ticket. How hard was that to get right?

Me too.

But then it took 40 minutes to do that at the Opera House, was not very organised.  Glad I did though.

bought my tickets on the wednesday, got primo seats(aislee 22 row A seats 97&98) got my mug on the front page of the dom post. walked straight into the stadium. That should be a good enough example of why you should pick up tickets in advance.

I shifted at half time to the end of the row.  The GF was in that picture standing in my seat.

Ok, maybe its because I am from Europe, and are used to different approaches and more experienced staff, but how is it possible to make such a mess that the stadium actually did yesterday???
My family and friends went yesterday, looked at the mess that was called ticketing, returned back to the pub. Net result, a loss of 9 spectators.

Why does it cause enormous problems for Westpac stadium to deal with 15.000 people in the first place???
I have been to over 80 footballstadiums and I have never had to wait 30 minutes in a queue to buy a ticket!
Perhaps stadium management needs to go on a wonderful trip to Europe and learn abit about Football-crowds. I have heard that Spain and Italy are great places to visit...

It didn't chock anyone that the crowd would total about 15.000, those numbers were being discussed here several weeks before the game..
The number of tickets paid for and collected was available as statistics to management, so why didn't they react, when they noticed that only about 3000 had collected their tickets before gameday???
To me it seems like they weren't alert enough.
And trying to tell football-fans to show up early seems more like a plan to have us spend money in their stadium rather than run an efficient operation, something that clearly were lacking last time.

I look forward to management learning from this fiasco and improving their organisation and strategy for the coming weeks. its not up to us to be early its up to them to cater for their customers.

Got to the stadium about 5mins after kickoff after finishing work and was very disappointing to see massive lines at that time and even more disappointing to see people people walking away because the lines were SO long. Crowd would have been closer to 16000 I imagine. Can only hope that they bother to come next time after reading the hype about the actual game.

And to the people whose season passes have been screwed up.. That isn't exclusive to football fans - they gave my parents a wheelchair "seat" (eg. no seat just concrete) for their season pass to the rugby.

Can I just interject and say 'Well Done' to Steven Thompson for fronting up on here and posting his contact details for complaints.

I didn't think the fault was with the Stadium at the weekend, it's Ticketek who are the cretins ripping us all off, which makes Steven's decision to get on here and defend all the more laudable.

Now, back to the bitching...

Guy.

The key is that we (on this forum) should tell anyone who wants to go to a game to pre-book, or better still buy a season ticket.

I note the CEO was out selling tickets - good on him - but so he should.

I had to pick up my "lost ticket" docket - as my season passes have yet to arrive. Having previously been to the stadium, I know only to well, that they are hopeless with dealing with people who turn up at the last minute. As a result, I picked mine up at 12.30 - even then I had to wait 5 minutes

I've been to many a game of Rugby, (I have season tickets for that too). Only too often there are queues at ticket booths even close to kick off....

As an aside, I heard on radio sport that 9000 tickets had been pre-sold. This may have caused people to think there was not going to be any queue.

Maybe the Backbencher,  Thistle and  phoenix shop should sell tickets too? even if that means ticketec missing out on their cut...

Roll on the next game
