Handball is handball - regardless of it being in the course of blocking your face, the shot was on target, and was blocked by his hands. end of.

Haven't had conclusive evidence of the Elrich incident - if there is any that suggests that it was accidental - then seeing as it was a straight red, Phoenix are entitle to appeal.

The two latter goals wer ethe Nix geing caught out in defence because they had to chase the game (and being a man down), and they were both very well taken goals - not a lot you could do about them.

I see positives in that Phoenix were able to weather the early storm without losing any goals, Roar had a number of chances, thanks to some frenetic defending and lucky breaks we got through unscathed.

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

Ok Cantona I take your point and am putting a poll exclusion order on myself.  I just like doing polls because I get to ask questions (to which I am interested in the answers) without offending anyone.......... too much..... danielsleftball2007-11-12 16:49:07

Folks,  We've got about 7 threads including refs ones going on last night.  It is a rule of the forum that we try and keep discussion to as few threads as possible.

I closed the other poll for this reason, but if we could keep that in mind it would be magic.

Cheers.

But it wasn't on target was it... the chances of it breaking Dodd's nose and then going in the net were pretty limited...it was on target for his head, not the goal.

I thought the only thing that was in danger was row z!  but you see them given for less, it was pretty poor technique from Dodd as Ricki pointed out.

Any news on whether we can and will appeal the red?

don't think it matters if it's on target  his hands we're in an unnatural position from his side  and so had to give the penalty

i thought we we're poo before Elrich went off  and never looked like getting anything
imo  we need a striker with a little bit more pace than smeltzy has to offer not saying smeltz is crap and i'm not singling him out in terms of the game  far from it i just think he lacks a little bit of pace

I thought we were looking pretty sketchy at the start but i thought that Moss was in for a goody... The red card as far as im concerned was a bi over the top but nothing much we can do about it now is there???

What Dodd did probably wasnt the smartest thing to do but in my opinion sometimes you just have to risk the professional foul if it means that the keeper has another chance of saving it.....
However I still dont think that it was this accident that led to the fall of the phoenix...

don't agree Giddyup - if the the lino hadn't called Elrich offside (aussie commentators even said it was dodgy) we might have been 1 nil up

we were right back into it for the 10 or so mins before Seo took his dive

i reckon reddy would've got that if only to clear it with the boot ,Elrich was no where near offside either but it doesn't matter now,  now it's all what if's and maybe's     as for seo  his smile was bigger than when ronaldo got rooney sent off  little pr!c

don't get me wrong still phoenix till i die

We werre beaten by the better team. However, any chance of us pulling what would always have been an upset were taken away by the pathetic excuse of a referee.

It was my fault. I broke my usual routine by not wearing my Retro-Ricki t-shirt while I watched the game, and I had a cup of tea at half-time instead of coffee. I shouldn't have done it, and I'm sorry.

No complaint at all about the penalty, but I'm still a bit dubious about the Elrich incident. From every replay I've watched, I still haven't seen him swinging his arm into the Roar players face. Ref was in a better position than me tho' and I did think the protests from the bench were a bit half-hearted when the red card came out. That being said, definitely not the best refereeing performance I've seen this season, by a long way. It didn't help.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Risking a professional foul in the penalty area when the ball wasn't even on course for goal?? you should never risk any foul in the box. if you're going to do it, do it outside the box at least

It's a shame O'dor wasn't on the park at the time of that penalty incident, if O'dor had gone up for that ball it would have smacked him fair in the snozz!, no matter where he had  his hands! tigers2007-11-13 14:50:24

Hard to disagree. Sadly for the Phoenix, it's turned out to be the type of decision that gets given against us, while some other sides seem to be teflon-coated when it comes to similar decisions.  That's just life in your first season in the A-League I suppose.

That's ok. Weather the storm, and it shall pass.
