PHOENIX FORTRESS

Record ours for the taking

THERE will be a couple of things on the minds of Phoenix players and fans this Sunday.

First and foremost, there's the matter of getting revenge against visitors Melbourne Heart at Westpac Stadium. Should the Phoenix grab three points against Heart, the second issue occupying the thoughts of the hosts will be taken care of - setting a new Australasian football record for most consecutive games undefeated at one venue.

The Phoenix's 2-1 win against North Queensland Fury last month saw the Wellington club equal the record of 23 undefeated matches at one venue, sharing the honour with Sydney United, which went 23 consecutive National Soccer League matches without defeat at Sydney United Sports Centre from 1996-99. The last time Wellington lost at Westpac Stadium was against Brisbane Roar (0-1) on October 26, 2008

On Sunday the Phoenix can make the record exclusively their own with a win or draw against newcomers Heart. In the two teams' first-ever meeting, at AAMI Park in September, Heart were 2-1 victors, so the Phoenix have added incentive to turn that around and continue their staggering run of form at Westpac Stadium.

Key to that will be a big, vocal crowd at the Ring of Fire this Sunday. Be there and help the team make history!

I think this is brilliant for our young ones.

NIX KIX A WINNER

Kids' coaching clinic a huge success
AS PART of Wellington Phoenix's Westpac Community Programme, the club held its first-ever Westpac Nix Kix training clinic at Westpac Stadium last week.

Catering for 100 keen football players aged eight-13, the training clinic was overseen by Phoenix assistant coach Luciano Trani, with 16 Phoenix players putting the talented young players through a series of drills aimed at building their skills and having fun.

"My thanks to the team for the awesome coaching clinic you ran for the kids on Friday. My daughter was blown away by it and thoroughly enjoyed the experience." - Kerry Hunt

"The morning was very well run and the Phoenix players were enthusiastically involved with the kids. It was a nice touch to give out certificates detailing the results of each activity. Alex has been on a high all day." - Sue Maguire

Following the overwhelming success of the first-ever Nix Kix clinic the club is currently planning to run more events in the future. Members will be notified of future opportunities, so make sure your kids don't miss out.

Correct.  When he scores, the Nix don't lose.  Fact.

He scored against Gold Coast and we lost 3-1.  Prior to that game if Ifill had scored we hadnt lost
