As much as I hate to admit it you could be right.

Oh, Leggy! Why o why didn't you follow up your stellar career with a FIFA A class coaching licence? Options are needed. And damn fast.

Have got some certificates, but not FIFA. I could be an assistant though.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Season 2 (my first season here) was not great, but at least I looked forward to the games. Now? Not so much.

Don't even compare to the Knights! they couldn't score. anything. I remember watching them once after they scored a goal, trekking to a miserable North harbour stadium and paying through the nose for the privlege of watching Jonti Righter. flip that.

Lol, our top scorer this season is an ex Knights player. Also one of the best on the field last night, Josh Rose, is also an ex Knights player.

Scary.

In response to OP, on balance it seems most people responding seem to think this is the lowest point in the history of the Nix.

People are more likely to come into this thread and post if they do think it is the lowest point though. Even though most people responding say that they think it is the lowest point, that probably doesn't translate directly to the Fever as a whole.

No, because you can only get the Fevers opinion once the in-crowd has spoken.

If it's not the low point, what was?

There was the early part of season 2 when we were mauled by Adelaide and Perth and looked totally clueless and dispirited. At that time I felt really concerned that a Knights-like scenario was developing and that the Phoenix might go down the gurgler, but we pulled things together and even had a rough show of making the playoffs going into the last few rounds.

But that was purely a performance based problem. This time round it's all tied up with a lot of off field stuff which I've read a lot about and am now utterly sick to death of. Clearly it has snowballed to such an extent that the entire morale of the club, especially of the players obviously, has been so damaged that let's be honest the season has turned into a train wreck.

Now personally lack of success doesn't worry me like it does many. All football clubs go through boom and bust cycles, and ultimately I just feel very lucky to be able to support a professional football club from my home town, and watch an array of Kiwi talent week in week out. What does concern me though is that unless a firm hand isn't taken between now and the start of next season those holding the purse strings, however fine and noble their words are, might decide that this club ownership business is all a bit costly and difficult and decide enough is enough.

The Phoenix needs a return to the stability that was built up over the first five years, because instability has a nasty habit of killing football clubs.

You my friend, are a wise man.

Man, I hope the mid-November, WC Qualifying card trick comes off this year.  Then bingo!!!  In the blink of an eye, our morale issues would be gone, in an instant.

That's a great post though I would question the last statement regarding a return to the stability of the first five years. I get the feeling that while things may have appeared rosy during the Terry era you probably didn't have to take off many layers and you would have found a bit of a shambles. Guess it just proves that perception is everything.

I'm absolutely dreading the qualifier, as I fully expect us to get dicked.
Things could get much, much bleaker from here on in.

Did I ever say that it's not the lowest point?

If we don't beat New Caledonia first though.  Mind you we can get dicked by NC too

Dude, you are one of our leaders...you must believe...
PS: Our hope is for the 2009 miracle, whereby everything fell into place  (with a lot of jammy luck too), happening again, and thus, solving our morale issues very easily...

The AW's were absolutely woeful in that qualifier in Christchurch a few months ago, really terrible. 3-0 was very flattering.

Agree. Presume Raul Blanco will be about for technical help - but he was involved in the Oceania fiasco too. AW's need Herbert and all resources with no Nix destractions mid-year to get the WC Mid-Nov playoffs sorted.

There is a coach out there for the taking.... depends if your management is quick enough and what it offers ....

As I understand it this coach has not signed but is the coach AU want and where going to get rid of Kossie for at seasons end... but the current AU coach after the MV win maybe will keep the job.... meaning this coach is maybe available  .....

He also has had a similar background to Arnie & Ange ... and the new PG boy...

Paul Okon the under young Socceroo 20 coach.... one of the best Socceroos ever...

Well spotted. Would be a great get. But we're up against it without any Tony P type connected football execs at the Phoenix.
