Wellington Phoenix Men

Is this the lowest point in the history of the Phoenix?

I would create a poll but I'm not sure I can on this 'new and improved' forum.

Say yes or, if no, what point in the history of the Phoenix was lower.

Results wise, probably. Although there was that phase in Season 3 where we lost a lot early in the season and then went on the run of draws. Was that the same season?

From an outlook perspective, probably the end of the Terry era before Welnix became visible then that was pretty low.

The problem at the moment is, the on-field stuff is awful and it seems the off-field stuff is just as bad. I don't see a whole lot of light at the end of a tunnel at the moment where in the past I always have.

Yeah, the only thing to add to that is that there is expectation there this year. Significant expectation around 'stable ownership', the perception that we recruited well, and that we had a good off-season. So I'd say yeah, probably.

Yes, the club is at its lowest point.

The thing that has always stood out is the team spirit coming from the players & their desire to play. After that woeful performance last night, it looks as though no-one wants to be there. Even our Mr Reliable - Dura - has been shite over the past few games, he has been out of position so much, & has not been able to lift the team on the field.

I did manage to see the Nix/Sydney game in Wellington in December for my one live match of the year. That was pretty dire.

It's a pretty low point. Serious question: Do they have sports psychotherapist? If yes, he/she should get fired! If No, would that may help to bring some confidence back.

At least in the Sydney game we tried, had possession, shots on goal, etc.

This game was dreadful. Didn't even try.

I'm picking the lowest point is still to come - Melbourne Victory at home last round of the championship. Victory will be trying to get the win to be top or stay top, we will be out of the running for 6th, and with allot of players told that they won't be retained for next season.

Lowest point on and off the field. We've lost our spirit and fight.

Probably the lowest point on the field though definitely not off it - there's absolutely zero threat to the existence of the club, thankfully those days are behind us. Of course I would hope that does not apply to the staff. One way or other there must be changes - hopefully several.

Yes it is, but this is the test for supporters. Just when like the Kingz and Knights were at lowest points, the hard core of supporters still believed. Hopefully we get through it and come out the other side intact and can say.... remember when....

Was really getting my hopes up after 20 mintues!

We haven't played any Georges or Clebersons, on the contra we don't have any footballers of great ability at the moment. Stein hasn't shown his potential, Brockie is a bit hit and miss, Manny suspended, Dura and Siggie aging, Boyd and Fenton inexperienced.

Don't even compare to the Knights! they couldn't score. anything. I remember watching them once after they scored a goal, trekking to a miserable North harbour stadium and paying through the nose for the privlege of watching Jonti Righter. flip that.

Lol, our top scorer this season is an ex Knights player. Also one of the best on the field last night, Josh Rose, is also an ex Knights player. As poor as the knights were (woeful) a number of their ex players have managed successful carrers at other A-League clubs.

I wonder if it has something to do with the coaching?

Phoenix, morning's just a moment away
And I'm without you once again
You laughed at me
You said you never needed me
I wonder if you need me now

[Chorus:]
So many dreams that flew away
So many words we didn't say
Two people lost in a storm
Where did we go?
Where'd we go?

We lost what we both had found
You know we let each other down
But then most of all
I do love you
Still!

[Chorus]

We played the games that people play
We made our mistakes along the way
Somehow I know deep in my heart
You needed me
'cause I needed you so desperately!
We were too blind to see
But then most of all
I do love you
Still!

Oh, Leggy! Why o why didn't you follow up your stellar career with a FIFA A class coaching licence? Options are needed. And damn fast.
