I'm keen on Elliot, but not sure about Brockie as a new signing. And Brockie seems to be coming up in the Elliot thread.

So take it away.

Yes because the Knights oozed Kiwi players.

Three for me, and two for them.

Definately would be a good signing and potential U-23 marquee, but is he the one who can provide aleague level cover for Smeltz and/or work alongside him well? Oska2008-09-25 20:09:25

Worst post of the year.

Sometimes I just assume everyone on here knows about NZ football to a certain degree, obviously not.

yeh I think one of the things the FFA said when they took the licence away was that they were worried about how few nz players were involved, and they got in the All Whites coach.  From memory.

I mean in the sence that good national players failed in the a-league
Noah Hickey to name 1

But yes you could say his previous experience in the a-league could help

i just think the basics need to be sorted before other players kill chemistry more

Actually Noah was excellent for the Knights and is easily still A-League quality.  He's just not interested in playing.

The limited NZ players they had were among the few bright spots for the Knights HK.

How's my driving? - Whine here

Agree, if he was still wanting to play he'd waltz into the nix squad and do a good job.

Still visualise his goal against Perth.

And Buncey's goal against Sydney from the Gao corner. Magic.

To be honest I used to hate Brockley and after watching him play quite a bit recently for Miramar (I know this is a lower division) he has really changed my perspective. Hes actually fkn good and I believe is much better than Coveny. I really believe Coveny is a huge waste of space in this team along with the likes of Dodd and Daniel. Dodd too fkn slow and jst a gumboot in the backline and as for daniel he just doesnt think and tries to do too many tricks which only have a 0.0001213% success rate. Stronzo

Noah Hickey could make any A-league team with ease.  He's class.  If only they didn't have to have arguments and then act like children afterwards (aka retiring to avoid being under that coach).

Three for me, and two for them.

Brockie

Sydney didnt want him last season

Would he get picked by them now - No

Would he get picked by any other A league sides - I doubt it, dont think the phone is ringing

Is he the one for us - I hope not, I can't see that he will be the answer, he is unproven at this level, and we need a proven striker

what we need is someone with a bit of height and strength to hold the ball up. i agree with the scotboy that dadi has looked impressive so far for perth and would have been a good addition for the phoenix. Not too sure about Brockie, but would definetly want him infront of draper or babarourses.

bring back hickey! [pause] Not!

Never liked Draper but having watched him train recently I"m starting to see the promise others have seen in him. I'd have him start/off the bench before Costa now.

A dog with a bone :)

Brockie burst onto the scene as a raw enthusiastic kid with a nose for goals for the Knights. He lacked, as all Kiwi players do, the technical touch, but was taken by Sydney on the strength of his promise. I don't know whether it went to his head, or whether there was to much too overcome technically for the Blling to want to persevere with him, but he was cut loose. Since then he has matured and seems to have worked very hard on his game judging by his performances at the Olympics and for the All Whites. He was one of the players of the tournament for mine, he worked very hard, created some good opportunities and scored one of the goals of the Olympics. I think he would make a very good signing for the Nix, considering the improvement he has shown and his potential to get even better. He would be a great foil for Smeltz and is a proven goal scorer, at this and international level.
