Jamie Coyne - Cited surely?

Perth Glory vs Wellington Phoenix, 83rd minute, Jamie Coyne elbows Tim Brown in the ribcage.

Surely the FFA must act having set the precedent with Ross earlier?

Yeah definently. I was annoyed and there would of been hell to pay if they had scored off the corner.

It looked alot like Aloisi's elbow awhile back, and he got two weeks I think...So based on that he should get something for it.

Aloisi's was a suspended sentence on condition he not get carded in next game, which he didnt so he didnt really get much for something which was blatant.

The elbow was awful, that was really unsporting and exactly what we don't want to see in the A League. Thought the ref was a bit rubbish; I have no idea what he was thinking when he suddenly continued the game half way through us making our substitutions, while Christies yellow card  was a poor call as well.

The ref didn't seem overly biased though. Towards the end he got a bit worse, but he was fairish and useless. Which is better than unfair and useless.

Maybe the FFA had a chat to him after last week's game, warning him he has a responsibility to Australian football and that having a fair game when a New Zealand team is involved will not be tolerated

We were all annoyed, but you should have seen Ricki Herbert. He was furious!

Its annoying to me also that a yellow card offense all of a sudden is not a yellow card offense if the player involved has already had a yellow card in the match (ie. Colosimo barging one of our players off the ball, ref blows the whistle long and hard and then remembers he already gave him one so its just a free kick). Daniel proceeded to get a yellow 5 seconds later for something so much less sinister.

what a c**t aye? And since the ref didn't see it, he can definitely be reported and banned for at least 3 games!

This Coyne geezer mustn't have two brain cells to rub together. Not only was it a cowardly cheap shot, but the turkey must be thick as a plank if he thinks the TV cameras are not going to pick on such a blatant elbow. It's almost enough punishment that millions of people in Australia and New Zealand now know the muppet is a complete moron...actually no it isn't suspend the clown for a few weeks and set a precedent that cheap elbows are not part of the game.

What was Tim Brown's Rib Cage trying to do by jumping out at Coyne's elbow? He could have done Coyne a lot of damage. Worthy of a card at least. Shame on you Tim Brown. keep your ribs to your self in future please!!

It's only fair if Brown gets punished in my opinion

Well Aloisi did pretty much the same thing so if they're being consistant Coyne should get a suspended sentence.

pantelidis got a 3 match ban for an elbow... how inconsistent is the ffa, it pisses me off!
Permalink Permalink

...and yet again 'Golden child' Griffiths got nothing for the choke hold on Pantelidis that caused the elbow.

Mind you, Laybutt is allowed to elbow George in the face in full view of cameras and walk away free.

What's that, a chameleon lizard under your username, Pilot? Does that mean that when Newcastle start losing you'll change colours and support someone else?

I noticed watching the game the 2nd time round, that not only did the ref continue play while we were trying to make subs...the perth players didnt throw the ball back to us, after we had kicked it out because our player was injured by their high boot in the first place...rather unsporting

Allegedly

I'm with you on that one Coxey. Sorry Jets, but that's the way it is. Doesn't matter how good someone is or thinks they are, cheats are the lowest of the low, and utterly despised by most.

speaking of sydney winning.. has anyone noticed absolutely NOTHING has been said about newcastle supporters hiffing beer and cans at a sydney player taking a corner late in the game? when it was us there was a big fuss, or maybe i havent seen anything yet..

Maybe because you're in New Zealand, not Sydney. Almost all of the bad press came from our own writers.

Can I just get back to the topic of this forum for a minute. That elbow by Coyne was no different to Aloisi's one the other week, but I was really annoyed at how the TV commentators really played it down like it was no big deal. Would they have done that if the offender was a Phoenix player? Bet they would have been on about it the whole game.

"Perth defender Jamie Coyne was also hit with a two-match ban for violent conduct for an incident missed by match officials in his side's loss to Wellington last weekend. Television cameras caught Coyne elbowing Phoenix midfielder Tim Brown, and the match review panel heard his case and found him guilty via telephone hook-up. Queensland midfielder Matt McKay has been cited to appear before the A-League tribunal on Wednesday on another violent conduct charge"

Possibly good news for the Nix too!

I say tackle him in the face.

Absolutely.

Laybutt get's nothing, Griffiths gets nothing for repeated offences (hitting the official, choking Pantelidis), Aloisi get's a suspended sentence, Coyne gets two weeks, and Pantelidis three.

It's getting beyond a joke.
