Jeremy Christie to sign

Hatchet man Jeremy Christie has been offered a deal by the Wellington Phoenix.

" Herbert will be banking on Hay accepting a generous salary offer to uproot his family and move to the capital "

Sunday News has been told the tough-as-nails midfielder will sign for the club this week.

The deal has been made possible after a change of direction from Perth Glory's new owners who have agreed to release him from the last year of his contract with the West Australian A-League franchise.

Does this not stand out as a backwards step for the team???

I really think we could have done so much better than him, and the articles are always banging on that he is hardman etc of midfield - he is no Jonas Salley!

It also gets worse with news Ricki really wants Danny Hay and that he will likely spend $100,000 plus to get him, what a waste of money, he will leak goals at that level and then we have less to spend on all important strikers.

oh man, im actually quite depressed about this....

cant ricki see that plodder ate all the pies? he's chunky as hell. very immobile too.
waste of a signing......... his best days are over (and he's definatly not amazing at his best)

at some point ricki and the new zealand journalists will have to get over the fact that its fine to have a predominant kiwi flavour, but not just to sign kiwi's for the hell of it.

OFC final just played yesterday consolidated my thoughts about hay too. sure, good in the air good dispensing from the back but farkn slow and the cause for waitakere losing by not keeping onto his man. If we sign hay he will cause problems socially with the team and will leave the keeper exposed 8/10 times.

The problem with hay is that there is A LOT  of pointing and not much 'doing'. Unfortunatly plodder is the same player. But at least hay kinda looks the part and isnt a useless balloon.

I'd rather Plodder than Danny, but just remeber this is the paper that pays Danny to write a column.
There is a slight chance they are trying to talk him in to a place (god I hope so).

It would also not suprise me if the Sunday News hadn't seen the report last week saying Plodder wasn't going anywhere

Okay, I suspect I'm just clutching at straws.

I don't think he'd be a bad squad signing, i would be concerned if he was signed to be the hard man lynchpin of our midfield. But i'm ok with him as a squad member. He has A -League experience and at least seems to give 100%

He dont give 100% percent! He's a lazy c**t and stands on the line clapping like a spaz.

Not making any excuses for George Suri, because he played sh*te in the NZFC final, but one of the reasons for that is he had to cover for Danny Hay who was living in his own world

i agrre, never been to impressed with wot ive seen of danny hay, seems to playin on his reputation as a good player rather than actually puttin in the effort. just read the article and a name i did like to hear was costa barbarousas, young, quick, talented and still out to prove himself so gives 100%, wouldnt mind his brother signing aswell!!

Yeah Costa is definetly worth a go, and he can be used as impact player.

Danny Hay seems to believe hes 2 cuts above any other NZ'er, when in fact he aint.

his only positive is the rest of the team look up to him, but if he carries on being lazy that wont last

Oh dear ! Danny Hay might possibly sign.
Well when the team plays at home u could always sing six months in a leaky boat? because those goals will be flowing in with him at centre back.
Then it will become depressing because the gap between the midfield and defence will be too big then it will become the long ball game.
Danny do us a favour and stay in JAFFA LAND.

Gens, my comments were about Christie, I fully agree and have mentioned before on this site that we should not sign Hay. Exp not for a 6 figure sum, for someone who wants to commute! Give me Sigmund over him any day, far more mobile...

Plodder used to give 1oo% of his ability when he last played for us. I canj only see him and Tim Brown chasing shadows if they're the midfield duo tho.
As for Danny and Steven Old!!! Give me Buncey and Tambo any time!

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

I would far rather have Tim Brown though as at least he has some talent, and Adrian Webster surely would have been a better option as well than plodder.

Tambo and Buncey far more reliable. Tambo has the speed to make up for Bunce's lack of it. Saying that, I think Hay - Tambo could also work... but not if hes commuting.
