really positive article - he has a lot of faith in us with his predicition of a 12-20,000 crowd, "if not more" for the adelaide game though.

I hadn't noticed Van Egmonts comments about the Nix until re-reading the article on Stuff.... basically writes us off for play off contention unless other teams have serious injury or suspensions! This coming after we beat his side three nil with Durante and Mckain unavailable for the same reason and with his team sitting dead last - cheeky prick

Christ, the stocks their have got thin then.

Infamous for a long lecture on how the Phoenix logo had blatant Nazi connotations and innumerable other questionable postings over the last few years.

Stick with the Football tragic (now he's back) and you will do much better... and he's less likely to throw a tanty if someone says something bad about his writing.

I didn't think van egmond was really that far off the mark. Bit ungracious obviously but isn't h saying what we've all been thinking )other than the fact that we think that we CAN get somewhere if we make the playoffs)?

Fink's changed his tune a bit recently though news, been pretty supportive and even saw fit to argue against bloody Les Murray (I'm sure old Les wouldn't like that) in his blog on SBS, arguing that we should remain in the comp. Les predictably decided to support Bin Hamman.

As an aside, where the hell does Les Murray come from (and get off)?james dean2009-01-08 10:22:39

depends on what you term football.. I know i'd rather support a team like Wimbledon or chrystal palace of the 80's/ early 90s , who by all accounts played some terrible 'football' but managed to win than a team like Van Egmont subtly implies he currentley manages that play attractive football and end up with the wooden spoon!

Fair play to the man though he did win a championship last year...perhaps a better comparison would have been todays Arsenal - beautiful football, no trophies

van Egmond needs to go back and watch his team in the middle of the season... awful, awful long ball rubbish.  SOme of the worst I've seen in the A-League.

Mans a twat, best ignored.

Oh,and Normo.  Hungary

I'd be more inclined to give Van Egmonds words a listen to than someone like say... Kosmina who thinks that his team thrashes everyone all over the pitch every week except in the goal count.

In play off time against Melbourne or Adelaide in those towns would be an extremely difficult task (but not insurmountable like the Warriors)

Go back to the JF article. He's right. We've got something great and positive her in Phoenix. It's up to us to fully embrace it. My friend who was down from Auckland, a couple of weeks ago, kept commenting on the number of people he saw wearing Phoenix gear. AS he put it "Wellington is into Phoenix isn't it?".

Interestingly, Spiro Zavos comments, in the replies to the JF article, I didn't know he ever knew what football was.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.
