without sl*gging him off, i think we need to tell John C our views
on his comments re Daniel in the sports lift out of the dompost, it
is in the sidelines section - where i think he is trying to be
witty.
I doubt any Wellington rugby player or the Lie-ins would
get that kind of attitude in any write up
about them.
Whilst I concede that Daniel does need to stay on his feet,
Chanter
i) shows the wrong incident for the hip injury (as far as i
can tell, from the angle of the photo)
ii) he ignores the fact that Daniel went off injured
iii) and he pretends to believe that if you are injured that
you would be unable to play 5 days later.
Basically it's a hatchet job
.
.(please note my retraint in not expressing any opinion on
Chanter as a 'person'.)

Totally Agree
It is a cheap shot. Just tapping into cliches about footballing, South Americans and theatrics. Cheap journalism. It will get a giggle out of rugbyheads and the uninformed - which he knows.
Unfortunately, he has made a habit of this and decided he
running joke for the season is going to be Daniel's theatrics - and
it looks like he will manufacture stories for a cheap laugh.
That he ignores the fact Daniel was subbed due to injury is
ridiculous.

The face he implies that Daniel wasnt really injured and making too
much of it is crap. Especially considering Daniel has been swimming
in a very col oriental bay to try and get fit for the match...not
fun and shows real dedication (this was reaported by the dom post
lol). John Chanter should be cut some slack
as he's obviously dumb as rocks and he cant help that

What a sad little man, I thought when I read his slander this
morning.

I've emailed a letter to the editor, first time i've written to a
paper - i doubt it'll see the light of day, but that's not really
the point
if enough of us hassle the paper his bosses might
tell Mr. Chanter to think before he writes
The dom has been great overall, but that piece was pretty
snide.
I also emailed John Chanter, the more of us that email either
the paper or Chanter - the less chance of that bias
continuing.
There is no way they would have put the boot into
the Wellington Lions like that
.
.Dodgy writing, dodgy attitude.

You'll be pleased to know he's leaving the DomPost soon and going

What is Chanter's email address? I read the article but have

Heard his parents sold their family farm in South Australia for
several million dingo dollars - so he's now a millionaire who can't
write.

Let's avoid having a lash at Chanter the person eh guys and stick
to this morning's ridiculous piece of journalism.

yep, it has to be about the actions and not the person
ideally the message we send to the Dom is that we appreciate the coverage overall, but ill-informed and sloppy digs will not impress us as the readers
I haven't bothered with the Paul Henry discussion because i
don't believe he is open to being influenced but, the Dom is much
more responsive to the interests of the wellington sporting public
and i do expect that they will take on the chin any criticism
that is well reasoned.

and like MariusL says, if we want to be effective we need
to argue against the piece of writing not the person,
i reckon TV3 (and to a lesser extent TV1) have responded
resonably well to numbers of Phoenix and general sports fans asking
for a fair crack of the whip for the Phoenix
and to a bunch of emails congratulating them for lifting their
game as pre-season progressed
the media needs punters - we are the new punters in

o.k., i'll stop talking to myself after this one!
just thought I'd pass on that in a reply John Chanter stated
that he no longer compiles that page, so just as well that some of
us slammed the writing and not the writer (though to be fair it did
look like he'd written it!)
He forwarded my email to Johnathon Millmow, so maybe he's the
one who could do with our feedback.
But I'm moving on, have a gud un folks!

Well then Mr Millmow, welcome to the world of Yellow Fever
