I have to say I don't recall him from the NSL days - anyone have anything on him.

Have to admit I was half-asleep when I heard this on the radio this morning, but instantly had the image of the 74-year old Republican Senator from Arizona in a Phoenix shirt.

Maybe we could add him with that Nigerian striker Barak Obama...

If we do sign McKain and his namesake wins in November, perhaps a chant to the tune of "Hail to the Chief" would be appropriate

Although all US candidates have to profess their love for god to get anywhere near nomination (theocracy?), McCain is actually relatively secularist.

Compare McCain's god-o-meter (lol!)with Obama's or Clinton's and you'll see that McCain draws much less on god.

This is a quote from what you highlighted:

"It may be one more reason not to vote for McCain for some Evangelicals. But my hunch is that for the most part, this story does nothing to radically change McCain's relationship with Evangelicals. I mean, what? All of a sudden Evangelicals won't vote for him because of this, or now vote for Obama or Clinton? I don't see it."

Just because 'evangelicals' might vote for McCain (due to historical ties to the GOP), it doesn't mean he is theocratic.

Eh, don't think you can really view players past history as the be all and end all - Smeltz at Halifax springs to mind.
