Any bets on when it will sell out? I'm picking on this Saturday (purely because some people won't be able to make it to Ticketek til then)

The three of us that go to all the 'Nix games went and bought 10 tickets today, bringing along seven noobs who are finally starting to realise that this is a big deal.

Funny story though, seeing as we're all students five of us went to the Ticketek shop today and tried to buy 10 student tickets. We only had five student ID cards with us (naturally) so the nice woman in there told us we needed all 10 ID cards to get 10 student tickets. At a loss for what to do (we're too poor to shout our mates full price tickets!) she suggested that we toddle about 50m down the road to a payphone and buy the tickets online with a credit card - where we wouldn't need to provide ID.

Ten minutes later we strolled back into the shop to collect the 10 student tickets we had previously been unable to buy, having bought them over the phone and without so much as flashing a single ID card.

Ticketek, you sure do work in mysterious ways.

Seeing as we are all students it doesn't really matter, but that system could be seriously exploited surely (which would matter more for normal season games when it would be the Nix's coffers - rather than the FFA's - that would take the hit).

Serious note:

Both Janelle and I Really, REALLY wanting to go to the game BUT:

Our daughter was born yesterday - I am a little amprehensive about taking a 2 week year old baby into a noisy stadium - espeically if it is a sell out - wouldn't be very fair to those around us if she didn't like the noise and started making her own.

Also, I fear that the FFA would charge us to take her with us.

I really, REALLY hate to say this - but maybe...I wont be there

Congratulations!

You surely wouldn't be charged for your daughter but I can sympathise.

Tough life decisions!

She loves football as much as I do. I think she would kick me in the shins real hard if I went and she missed out.

I'll join the FB campaign none-the-less

We'll see how baby is in a weeks time, it'll be closer to the game time though so we might miss out - but that would be amazing if that was the case. Another sell out game of Football in NZ? Better believe it.

You could also get one of the friendly parking wardens to watch her for up to 2 hours. I hear they hang out pretty close to the stadium too!

I'll change their quota so that it mandates this. However, there is a whole other topic in Off Topic about this - I don't want to hijack the thread with this

While parking's not cheap at the stadium it may be cheaper than a baby sitter. Make sure to leave then window down a fraction.

Bummer since you and your fiance were going even when she could have popped at any moment.  Sure your baby girl would want to experience the nix from outside the womb for a change  .

by all means take her.. she'll be fine - as long as she's a healthy wee bub.  Put a wee hat over her ears to protect them (in case we're winning madly or the ref is playing badly); and maybe sit in a quieter area.  As long as she's fed (and heck - that can be done on demand and free!) she'll sleep through the lot.  take her in the car seat capsule.. go on!  do it!

Advice for future offspring - time the conception to ensure that any child is born AFTER the A-League season.  It was the one demand I made of a recent ex-girlfriend  - should we have gotten to the point of having kids, no child of mine would be born during Phoenix season!

(Thankfully she agreed...but perhaps even more thankfully our relationship didn't work out!!!)

All that subliminal chanting plus any early exposure if you go on 7 march - bets for her first words?

"Who are ya?"
"Greenacre my lord"
"The referee's a w@nk@!"
???

"Phoenix till they lose"

Damn. I momentarily forgot about them.

(My secret plan is to go to the game, because it is going to be another epic, but I need to give enough time to recover and let my girls realise that I am right. So please don't sell out for another week please...or sell out, less 2.5 seats. Thanks in advance and unleash the seats).

I have done what I can to tip the "pop media" about this FB campaign but any help/insider help would be awesome!

I wonder what is going to be on the news tonight - anything so far? I missed the headlines so I'm not sure what is coming up.

Edit: well nothing on either channel in the sporting headlines... Did it really make the lead news?

Just buy a ticket dude. I've been through this and everyone thinks in that first couple of weeks you're gonna have to be there every second but it's not true. In a few days you will both realise that you still need a bit of space and to do some normal things - for both your sakes. Just don't take it for granted but make sure that as soon as she even mentions anything about "you should pop out and have a drink with your friends or something" it's Yes! Phoenix! Thank you!

Oh, and read this for inspiration!

Wow, almost 200 sign-ups on that FB page already. As I said, I'm indifferent to FB myself but recognise it's a big thing for people these days.

Hopefully this can spur the casual fans that we will definitely require to give the 'Nix a capacity RoF!
