I don't think we need to hit the 'early release' conclusion for everyone who loses their place in the starting XI
Import spots are valuable and there’s no point subbing on a goalkeeper.
Yeah it's a wasted VISA spot at this point. If we have a local doing a good enough job we can use that VISA better. I'd look to release early at the end of this year if the situation doesn't change. Poor dude.. he seems like a good kid.
Dont agree at all not as if visa players are lining up to join us. Also bit early after only two games to be thinking AKH has the number one spot for the rest of the season. Yep he made some good saves but so has Josh. So you want to get rid of him and if AKH gets injured or has a loss of confidence or form Boon get promoted . No thanks.
Visa's should be used on your best players. They normally cost more etc. I'd give him to the end of the year to prove himself.
In your opinion, visas dont have to be the most expensive and i wouldnt think Josh fits that description. Just dont get how people can say get rid of him after AKH has only played two games. Im 100% with Reg22 on this.
And weeks or months of training sessions and performance analysis.
But equally, considerably longer in terms of training sessions and performance analysis for LKH 🤷♂️
I still maintain offering a 1 year extension after 2 games, and probably 6 weeks of training is a bloody small sample size to make such a call on an import.
Announcing his signing in late Aug, Chief said "Josh has a fantastic presence. He’s got a good command of his box, communicates well and is very good with his feet,"
I reckon they've been caught out by his level, you can argue one way or another about being good with his feet, but from what I've seen he certainly doesn't have a 'good command of his box', and I'm far from convinced on the 'communicates well' piece as the I don't think he provides confidence to his defenders.
"You can never get a bloody tradesman at Easter, it's a wonder Jesus got crucified" - Karl Pilkington
Be interesting to see what they do if AKH is still starting at year end. Josh is a very athletic shot stopper and by all accounts has a great attitude so he has the attributes to get his starting position back but he needs to be playing and while it's a waste for the phoenix to have an import keeper on the bench, it's also a waste for a young and ambitious English passport holding keeper to sit on the bench in the a league.
Josh was supposed to be the starting keeper. AKH was supposed to be the natural backup / second keeper. We need two quality goalkeepers. It might be that we simply cannot get a quality visa-free second keeper and that this is the leading duo of keepers we have right now. Whether the visa goalie (Josh) takes the field or takes the bench on a game day is neither here nor there. The situation would be different if - like David Ball of late - the visa player was not injured but not selected in the game day squad. This is not the case here.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
