Its great to see the lads playing some great entertaining football that makes you not want to miss a minute. But i have one corcern.

My concern is that the pheonix keep conceding early and first. This means that they in effect often start a goal behind. We are scoring goals often but the day will come when we find it more difficult to find the back of the net and this means that we will start to have to play Catch up football.

I think it will make it tough to win the league if we are forced to play football like that.

Hey im glad they won but tbh i think it happens to often.

its happened in 5/6 games.

And if after every win you said "Hey lets just ignore this problem" you arent going to get better are you?

Still great to get 4.

it's not good to concede goals anytime, but even the best teams do it. I'd take a 4-1 win over a 1-0 win anyday

When you talk about conceding early, it's not because we don't turn up to play before the 2nd half. We had the better of the first ten minutes until Celeski scored. It was unfortunate that he did, but all it does is spark us into action.

We are a very strong team at the end of matches and have a very good bench

so you know that its not worth mentioning as it has nothing to do with the ability of our defence?

wow i'm really not enjoying reading this forum today. and i'm disappointed. Why the heck is everyone suddenly acting as though this is some kind of disaster!!! i.e. the above post, seriously one game does not make a team or a season, and everyones acting like all of a sudden this team is full of holes, instead of just getting in behind them after they played a bad game which possibly had something to do with a different trial of tactics, that didnt go so well. fs

Sorry you miss read the above comment this was not suppose to be negative. This was more of response to the lead thread below "entertaining football". I support the nix with all my heart and I am not really fussed on the style of football played . Please watch the replay from last night, the game plan didnt work we had players falling over each other in disarray!!!. Even my main man Tony was all at sea and had a shocker he missed Daniel.

The second goal was really Lochead's fault, he made the cardinal sin for a defender of chasing the strikers without knowing where the rest of the defenders were. If he had communicated (or simply looked) at the rest of the defensive line and stayed put the Roar strikers would have been 2-3 yards offside.

we will not win every game in the season and that is the way football should be,happy to exept losses on the way and most teams learn while losing and hopefully get better,

While I agree that it's something that they should be sorting out, I'll rather lose a goal in the first ten minutes than go 1-0 down in the last 5.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

I might write a letter to the Phoenix management staff and tell them that they should stop conceeding the first goal, because I am sure they haven't thought of doing that yet.

They might make me manager.

While your writing to them can you also please ask them to make sure they score the winning goal in the 85th minute if the weather in wellington in future home games is like todays.

Wouldn't the shirts have to go off when the goal goes in - that would still leave 5 mins plus stoppage time of bare chests. Cue pneumonia on a day like this. FM should get them to score the winners last minute of injury time...

Maybe that is why a goal is conceded early, to postpone the timing of the shirt removal in order to lengthen the life span of the supporter base.

I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but I think Moss should be held responsible for the second goal. The ball was going straight to the head of a striker not far in front of him and all he needed to do was jump in the general direction of that striker. If he had jumped in front of the striker he would have saved that header with ease.

I think the reason we lost that game was because Ricky et al haven't been reading the forum and making use of our vast store of football knowledge, basically we should be running this team by some form of committee, and any substitutions etc., should be put to a vote, and approved by a show of hands or removing of shirt (counts for 2 votes). Instead of conceding an early goal why not try starting off with ten players, and scoring an early goal.  these tactics should work every time, I should be in charge of the AB's I'm so smart

yeah after looking at it again i agree and apologise to ross for blaming him for being at fault

I don't think he would have got in ahead of the striker though. He stepped forward to close down the header, which is a fair enough decision. You could argue that he should have stayed on the line to try and react to the header, given that he ended up stranded. Ultimately, I think we got caught out not reacting well enough to missing a central defender to treatment.

Disclaimer: I am quoting from memory and haven't seen the incident since Friday night, so reserve the right to find my memory at fault when I see a replay!

I diisagree entirely. There is nothing he can do for an open header! I blame Ricki for not subbing O'Dor quicker

It wouldn't have been an open header if Moss had jumped in the general direction of the striker the ball was going to (I think it was Kruse). If Moss had got in there it would have put the striker off and would have narrowed the angle of the header.

Like I said, if Lochead had kept in line with the other defenders, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I blame the first goal on Aloisi, as if he had won the toss, we would have been playing in the opposite direction, and it would Zullo would have scored an own goal.
