Hibernian manager John Collins has resigned himself to losing striker Chris Killen this summer. The New Zealand international has stalled on talks over an extension to his contract which expires at the end of the season. And the former Oldham player is now set to exercise his right to look for a move away from Easter Road. Despite being sidelined since January after snapping his Achilles tendon in a Tennent's Scottish Cup encounter with Aberdeen, Killen is unlikely to be short of offers having scored 15 goals during the first half of the season. Collins was keen to retain Killen's services but claims there is not any bad feeling towards the player. He said: ``He won't be here next year and I have to structure the squad for next season. ``I have to find another targetman - if I wasn't I would not be doing my job. ``I don't want to dwell too much on it but it's his football career, he makes his own choices and that's the nature of football business now. ``I have not got any problems with that. Chris will look after his own career the way he thinks is best for him and I have to look after the football club and my squad for next season.'' Asked if he would welcome Killen back if the marksman failed to find new employers during the summer transfer window, Collins replied: ``We will cross that bridge when we come to it and I don't say that with bitterness or anger, that is just the reality of the situation. ``That's football for you and it's probably the same at other clubs. ``He scored goals for us and he has been a good servant so good luck to him.''

I hope he doesn't come to Phoenix just yet to be honest. He's good enough the get good contracts in Europe. I think Killen has a few more good years in Europe before he comes back to play here.

Cant believe Hibs would let him go, wasnt he like the leading scorer in the spl or something?

His choice to go.

Scoring 15 goals in any league is quality but he should stay in Scotland for another year or so and see if he can consistently score at that level. No point going south of the border as unlikely a prem club will sign him. If he proves  his worth in Scotland then he will be good asset for WGTN PHNX in future as younger strikers will learn from him what it takes to make it!

To good to be comming here yet.
A Scots mate of mind went home at xmas said the guys back home were raving about how good he was (hes a celtic supporter) and wondered how long before a bigger club made an offer for him.
Lets hope he gets injury free and is available for the All Whites WC qualifiers later this year.

A dog with a bone :)

Wouldn't be suprised of Cardiff give it a good nudge for him as a replacement for the supposedly departing Michael Chopra.

Was a bit dsappointed to see Killen is leaving Hibs, and talking of even dropping down a Division. Would he not have been better to stay for another year with them, and if he hit the form of the first half of the season, either secured a longer deal with them or look to another bigger club? I imagine other SPL clubs would be a bit nervous taking him on a long deal at the moment, until he is demonstrably fully recovered- so playing at a lower level looks to be on the cards. Hopefully whatever he does, a good long ,injury-free, goal-scoring spree awaits.

I wouldn`t see playing in the championship for a top team a step down, also he will earn more money in this division. Didn`t Bunce turn down Dundee utd because Coventry offered better money? Hearts seem to be favourite to sign him. He would appear to want more than a one year deal.

reading the story on here, it sounds like he was only offered a 1 year deal from Hibs, and he is wanting more long term.  It will be interesting to see how many offers he does get

Also rumour from a Coventry supporters page on their coach going to Scotland for a chat.

QPR will have him. Would be a good partner for our current striker.

I am Scottish and watch the SPL on a weekly basis, and Killen is a decent player, he gets goals, but doesn't mind a bit of goal poatching, will be surprised if he doesn't get a good offer in Scotland or an ambitious English Championship side, mabey even Holland, Scandinavia, etc.

Killen agent denies Hearts chase

Killen is to leave Hibs at the end of the season
<!-- E IIMA --><!-- S SF -->Chris Killen's agent has rubbished reports claiming the soon to be out of contract Hibs striker is wanted by Edinburgh rivals Hearts.

"Two Premiership clubs, several Championship clubs and teams in Denmark and Norway are interested," Steve Hughes told the Daily Record.

"As far as any Hearts interest is concerned it is simply not true to say they have made any offer.

"That's not to say it won't happen but I don't expect an offer." <!-- E SF -->

The New Zealand international has rejected the chance to stay at Easter Road and his next stop could be Italy.

Hughes went on to say that Serie B side Genoa, currently chasing promotion to the top flight, are tracking Killen

"Genoa are genuinely interested in getting him," added Hughes.

"Italians like playing with a burly target man and they are monitoring Chris's situation."
