I'd assume in that instance the golden boot prize money would be shared between the entire squad for coming first equal, but we'd probably have to make 23 trophies to give them all, so would end up more expensive. 

Would have finished 8th, wouldn't have given the Jets 9 points, and they'd only have 24.... Meanwhile in Gosford, the mariners would have reached a grand total of 9 points
