Right, now I have your attention.

I had a thought the other day when I was trying to follow th Phoenix v Roar on the ESPn text updated etc.

I am not encouraging this behaviour or actions in anyway . I had sky when i lived in NZ so have paid them in the past.

But....

If I was a Phoenix fan who happened to live in NZ but outside of Wellington(as Wellingtonians will be at the games) I would think that somebody could get a web cam and a microphone hooked up to their computer and focus the cam onto Sky tv live coverage of the Phoenix games.

Even no cam but just a microphone would be better than nothing. Yellow fever might even ask if they can broadcast RadioSport coverage on the yellow fever site. Its a win win. All you need is a radio, micrphone and a little bit of software.

Who is brave enough to give it a try?

Us overseas fans would love you to bits!

Now there are a number of chat sites and webcam sites that you could probably register with for free. I am sure you could get away with a game or two and then move to another site.
Sites like below have the Web cam access to one user for many viewers should work:

I am sure there are loads more that would work for us.

Before the days when live radio coverage was available on the internet for all English league games, a Brighton fan used to do just this for us ex-pats. He used the Live365 website, which was a free tool for broadcasting whatever you wanted, a mic and a radio tuned to BBC Southern Counties Radio. He'd set it up before he went to the game and disconnect when he got home. It wasn't legal, but the SCR commentator knew about it and didn't mind (not sure what his bosses would have said) as it was the only way for ex-pats to listen to games. It was great. In 2001, SCR match commentary became available from the club site (for an annual subscription) and so we stopped using Live365. I'm not sure if Live365 still exists or is still free or has expanded into video as well as audio.

Or you could just listen to radio sport via the net.

A dog with a bone :)

thought about the above, but would hesitate to do it unless I knew the bandwidth consumption for a 90 minute broadcast (ISP's nowadays charge for upload as well as download)

I'm looking at setting up my computer as a streaming server for this reason. It would only be audio, but don't expect much this season.

As for the bandwidth charge, I have enough upstream bandwidth in order to feed it to a few (~20 I guess) people. (I'm not on one of those useless xtra plans)

I haven't got much time at the moment, but I'll have a better look once exams are over (that's early November).

If you want to pester me to do something, PM me and get my email address...
