Is it me or are some of the discussions on this forum locked a little quickly?  Take for example the discussion on players we'd like to see play for the Phoenix that has just been locked.  Did Smithy by any chance miss out on being a policeman?  A bit of a needless baton charge there.

Yeah, I thought my suggestion of signing Les Ferdinand was perfectly reasonable.

Let's face it, if every discussion that was talking a load of bollocks was locked, 95% of threads on this site would be shut down.

And Les is a great shout, but would you play him up front with Rooney or Torres?

In before the lock.

Some mods are clearly over-zealous on this site.

They get locked because

a:  it seems like there is a new discussion about who should be signed every bloody day. As the rules say, find a pre-existing thread and post in that

b: there are too many people trolling for responses with pathetic posts about just blatantly dumb sh*t e.g. Ricki should be sacked...

Good on ya Smithy.

We have one of these fantasy football "Why don't we try and sign Ronaldinho as a marquee player" type threads about twice a week.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

That's no different from the "when are the new season tickets out?", "Can I change my seat?", "Is elrich any good" type stuff that goes on every other day.  People were having fun, stop it and see the hits drop!

I would have left it open as a serious discussion until someone suggested signing f**king Les Ferdinand.  I mean really, come on.

I think Franz Ferdinand might be a better option. Least we'd get a sing-song at half-time

Well, maybe this should be locked too after Jag suggested signing Franz Ferdinand. I mean, at least Les was a footballer, not a pampered heir to the throne of a decadent empire who got shot in the head....el grapadura2008-01-22 10:16:46

Franz Ferdinand is a more sensible suggestion than Les.  You get four players for the price of one and great half time entertainment.

See   Smithy knows a good suggestion when he sees one.

But signing 4 Scottish guys would mean we'd have to release Daniel and Felipe. Surely that can't be a good idea?

Jesus, this discussion is ridiculous, please for God's sake someone lock it down.

Yeah but with their moves they'll be just as effective at getting round their markers. Just think, Nic Ferdinand swaying side to side, he'll give any defender motion sickness.

Hey! Getting more Scots on board is always a good thing

I think I can hear Smithy jangling his keys.......
