er sorry News couldn't be bothered finding an old thread

Looks like he may get a run off the bench. Here are some comments from Iffy in the Age

''I have been impressed by some of the youngsters I have seen in the short time I have been here though, and if they make the move at the right time and get the right luck they could easily play overseas. We have a young boy at Wellington who has been injured but who has trained with the first team, a boy called Marco Rojas, who has great ability. Koffi Danning at Sydney looks like he has a real future, while Jason Hoffman at Newcastle did well against us when he scored twice.''

I don't see how you can get from that that he might be on the bench?

Would prefer he got his first run in Welly - it's a bit of a tough ask against Melb in Melb

Lol, brilliant isn't it?  From that comment from Paul Ifill absolutely nothing was said about whether or not Rojas would get a run or spot on the bench.

Rojas got pushed around a bit tonight, to small. Although showed some attacking promise, still think Costa should be there ahead of him

Agree, but think both of them need more chances. Problem is there are now three stkers ahead of them. i feel sorry for Costa, 2 and a bit seasons for what,, 2 games worth of mins of the bench? Should be overseas.
Oh Wellington is wonderful. We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix. Oh Wellington is wonderful.

Good to see him playing. Seems to me like he's going to get a few chances this season - hopefully he can make the most of them and develop into a fantastic player.

Still not sure how much opportunities he will get especially with the introduction of Chen and Caceres. Chen most likely to take a spot on the bench and possibly Caceres starting. There doesn't seem to be much room for Rojas unless as injury cover.

I was impressed with him in a defensive sense because he's such a small guy. He got back and made a couple of crucial tackles. Didn't have much of a chance going forward but he put in a brilliant cross in the last play of the game which could've been converted.

I'd like to see him again next week for 15 or 20 given free reign to run at some of those leaden-footed NQF defenders. The surface at Etihad is bloody awful and it looked like he was struggling to keep close control of a constantly bobbling ball. On a much flatter smoother RoF surface he could be a real handful.

Anyway, good on Ricki for 'blooding' him.

He is a very small player but he definitely tried to get in their physically and pressure some players which was good to see.

So does Messi.

Didn't someone say earlier that his old man is quite stocky?? He'll bulk up over time, afterall he is still just a kid.

Indeed. Part of Marina Erakovic's problem is that she is still so undeveloped physically even at 21. Let's hope Marco doesn't have this problem.

The pitch will be fine imo, normally is since the grounds people at the stadium are pretty good, only way the field will be in crap condition is if we get a whole heap of rain over the next few days

Yep. It'll be fine. Not perfect but, right now, it's stronger than it ever was last year and we'll be doing a fair bit of patching up etc over sat night/sunday morning. The rain shouldn't be an issue either.

The pitch isn't really an issue when you see what the aussies have been serving up. It will take more than a rugby game to make it that bad.

Fuck this stupid game

We'll find out on Sunday the day after 30 heavyweights have been rolling around on it for 80 mins.

Watched the Foxsports highlights  last night.

The very best of the Hyundai A-Leagues 5 games from the weekend all packed into half an hour.
And guess who got a good showing?
You bet ya, 17 year Marco Rojas screaming down the left leaving a couple of Melbourne defenders in his wake, and putting in a beautiful pass into the penalty box and giving Tim Brown the chance to win the game for us, with seconds to go!
If Browny had smacked that ball into the back of net, that lad would of been the talk of the town.
Good on ya son.
