Oh really? I did not know that. Interesting...
So how does that work with Smeltz and Moss being born there but play for NZ. Are they imports over there?

Think you've probably figured it out, but just to clear up for any others - both Smeltz and Moss have Australian citizensip, so consequently do not count as imports for Australian teams in the A-league despite representing NZ internationally.

Harry Kewell is gonna be the next Marco.

How will Kewell deal with not being referred to on a first name basis every ten seconds through match commentary anymore though?

didn't he move there cos he wanted to play a central position?

first thing I thought when I saw him out of the left wing! sure he roamed a bit but he had that role here! number 11 on his back so I guess he might be considered a starter...

Against Celtic Marco and Solorzano tore it up, and there were signs against Sydney that they can really work some magic together.

Sola to start over Allsopp on Friday I hope.

I thought he would get a chance but a starting spot is still going to be in danger over there. Marco played well but he won't be able to afford to have any quiet games. There is still a lot of competition with Hernandez and Pondejlak to come back. He also really wants Melbourne to keep the same formation which suits him. If he keeps that level up he won't have any problems, but Melbourne simply can't field all their high profile attacking players.

If Pondlehack gets a game over Marco there will be a legit riot at AAMI/Etihad/where the f**k ever.

He's hardly in competition with Hernandez for a spot, and Pondeljak? Please. See what KP said.

Why is he not in competition with Hernandez? Carlos isn't going to play out wide but how would you fit Kewell and Hernandez into the starting 11? Which must at least be a possibility especially if they don't and he then performs off the bench. AS I said if Marco keeps playing like that he will be fine, but it would only take a couple of quiet /poor games and...

If you look at it that way, then Archie and Allsopp are under as much pressure as Marco.

Yes, Thompson is. Alsopp is under quite a bit more pressure because
a) He isn't as good
b) He was quite underwhelming in the first game
c) With their current formation I can only see him playing in one spot, of which multiple players are capable of playing, whereas Marco has 2.

Kewell is their only attacking player who isn't really under pressure for his spot.

I guess if they keep their formation this would be the way to do it. You could stick Kewell out wide though with either Thompson or Solaranzo up front. How do you like this seasons formation? Same as we were playing, I think it creates a lot of problems in the middle on defence.

So being the third highest scorer in A-league history makes you crap?

Where did I say he was crap? Anyway, he has been around for quite a while for a team that has created a lot of scoring opportunities, he has scored significantly fewer than Archie, he isn't actually number 3, and what he did 5 years ago doesn't always tell you how good he is now.

Remembering Danny went to the MiddleEast and the US during his A-League time.

Also, the A-League's come a fair way since he was nodding them in at will.

Archie gonna get dropped this week.  It is standard Victory rules that state that young players must be compared to a yougn Harry Kewell.

Starting XI: Covic, Foschini, Leijer, Vargas, Fabio, Brebner, Broxham, Rojas, Thompson, Hernandez, Kewell

Edit: Just checked using a search and didn't have a printed opinion either way.

Don't think it was aimed at you, just that there were quite a few people on here who claimed Marco would be lucky to get on Viktree's bench at the time of his departure.

Smithy and I thought otherwise, so his performance on Saturday night feels like a bit of a vindication.

Marco got lucky and made the bench again

seems that's what he's going to get for the rest of the season. Hope he's enjoying his 14 minutes nd the amazing training facilities over there cos that's pretty much all he's getting at the moment

Yea would be alot better playing in a team that they dont want to invest money in. Its a lifestyle choice hes chosen also, stop having a cry coz he left the nix move on ... Its time to let go

must be good times not getting picked for a side cos the club have invested big money in an under-performing player that they can't drop

Wise words, J82. I had tears in my eyes reading that.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.
