So begins his 'overseas' career, best of luck.
So you do actually care for him quite a bit though?
yeah.... haha.
I hope the incoming Melbourne coach likes him. Is it safe to say Rojas didn't see Merrick losing his job before he signed for them?
pretty sure his dad didn't see it, surely a player's agent is supposed to pick this sh*t up? Oh well Marco will have to prove himself all over again.....my guess is bench or youth team for the first half of the year....he'll get grumpy and move on to somewhere else when his contract ends.
Wrong. They were well aware of a likely change.
ok so you go from a club whcih is in some uncertainty to a new club with no coach, makes less sense given the coach that's buying you aint gonna be there when you arrive.
cos Rodi is such a good agent..

How do you know Merrick was they guy buying Marco?
It's not as if Merrick's departure is a complete shock, it's been heavily rumoured for a couple of months.

yes but thats not the same thing.
I'm sure you have heard Smithy whinge about players being picked for him..
It's pretty safe to say he knew Merrick wouldn't be there next season.

The basic point of my original post was that Merrick wasn't the guy buying him - you appeared to question it.

Righto - hear ya loud and clear this time.
It's definately possible he will be on the bench but I doubt it will be because of those three players. I can't see Victory playing all of them at once....although I know Merrick started a similar 3 in his last match. The bigger issue for Marco is who the manager will end up being and whether the game plan will accomodate him. I can see him being used as an impact sub quite a bit. It does seem pretty weird for them to be so aggressive on new signings with no manager.
So it appears that the Victory have signed Solarzano.
Marco isn't a striker? The three signings are ( not sure on Solarzano ). With a good strike force they may want a decent width player to feed quality crosses in and get in behind the line to drag the ball back across the goal... things Marco does well.
Well if they play those 3, then add Hernandez (who at this stage must be ahead of Marco) you are going to have 4 very attacking players then add Marco to that list and you would see a lot 4-3/5-4 etc. games with Victory probably loosing most of them. Would imagine that only 2 out the 3 strikers would start with Hernandez.
Solarzano is a striker from Brisbane Roar, a Kosta Rician who will use another import spot. I don't consider Marco a striker although he is a mainly attacking player. I could see victory playing two strikers, Hernandez and Marco. Marco just needs to put on a little muscle and work a bit on his defence and strength on the ball. Melbourne also still have Angulo and Richardhino as far as I am aware, not sure on the length of those contracts. It's quite an unbalanced squad at the moment. rjmiller2011-03-29 17:30:38

Ricardinho is gone as far as I am aware, back to Brazil. And I think Angulo is still up in the air with his loan deal coming to a close and not sure if Melbourne will need to buy the player or if they can organise another loan deal.
Marco Rojas (Melbourne Victory FC)
So begins his 'overseas' career, best of luck.
I really really really don't care about him anymore. Apart from if he plays for the AW''s. And apart from when he returns to Westpac Stadium.
So you do actually care for him quite a bit though?
Rojas...Kruse! has such an ugly dirty ring to it...I wish him luck for the All Whites and in leaving the A league for a promising career soon.
yeah.... haha.
Too soon Simon.
The sooner he goes overseas (anywhere but Oz), the better. Till then, he is merely a name on a team sheet. He means nothing to me.
Unless that team sheet is the All Whites', of course!
Unless that team sheet is the All Whites', of course!
Good luck to him I guess. Im still going to follow him every week as long as hes a kiwi, just like how we've all been following Kosta, Smeltz and all the rest... but if he EVER turns down an official AWs cap - thats when hes dead to me.
I hope the incoming Melbourne coach likes him. Is it safe to say Rojas didn't see Merrick losing his job before he signed for them?
Perhaps they heard it might be Ange P, and liked that idea. Could instead be K Musc*.Or Straka. We'll see.
In which case - big lols if Ange isn't allowed to move to the victory.

The question is whether they have any idea who is likely to be Merrick's replacement

So many assumptions, so few facts.

Because coaches pick players to play in their team. Are you saying Marco knows who the new coach is?
It's pretty safe to say he knew Merrick wouldn't be there next season.
Yeah but that's not the part that matters.
It's hard to believe he would move without knowing who the new coach would be.
yes but thats not the same thing.

This could end up like Petone B part 2

Trying to track down highlights of Marco/Kosta from this season...anyone want to find them, or put together a compilation video..or a comparison video with Messi- it is proper off season behaviour and would help me win cred at work...
So it appears that the Victory have signed Solarzano.
Thet means with a front line including Allsop, Solarzano and Archie Thompson then Rojas will be warming the bench quite a bit next season.
So he goes from a certain starter at the Nix to reserve grade/ bench player at Victory.
Allsop, Thompson and Solarzano are all experianced performers at A-Lleague level. They will all rank higher than Marco at seasons start. Rojas will be the newby trying to get game time to improve his game and impress the coach.
Not looking like such a smart career move after all. Come back Marco.....we forgive you.
