Marco Rojas - The retirement of the Kiwi Messi

Can't recall which thread, but someone suggest the MLS for him. That wouldn't be a bad move to be honest. He will be 21/22 and at that age you should be competing for a spot in the first team in Europe. Where as the MLS, you are the same age as the guys they get in from the College system. MLS teams would have more experience in bringing these 'older' youth players into their ranks.

Wales are barely their own country when it comes to most things.

Pretty sure he scored both, 1st one was definitely on target. The boy ran all night, poor old Grant and Fabio must be tired as!

His first was given as an own goal, an utterly ridiculous decision in my opinion. He fired a shot on goal which deflected and sent the keeper the wrong way. I'm at a loss as to how it is possible to determine that his shot wasn't on target before the deflection.

Unfortunately this has become something of a trend in the last few years.

Looks like Liverpool is going to sign a midget who dribbles well in the form of Coutinho from Inter so I doubt they'll be bothered in persuing Rojas.

"Melbourne Victory coach Ange Postecoglou says any question marks about Marco Rojas' ability to strut a bigger stage were answered on Saturday night with his five-star performance in torching Sydney FC.

Rojas scored one goal, did everything but get the scoresheet credit for another and stood up big-time in a big occasion match at AAMI Park to help his A-League side to a 3-1 win.

With a contingent from English Premier League club Liverpool at the match to discuss a potential off-season game in Australia, as well as scouts from Italian giants Juventus, Rojas turned on his sensational best.

Postecoglou believes how the A-League's hottest property handled the pressure shows he has the right people guiding his career.

And importantly, his coach believes he has developed the mental fortitude as well as the on-field ability to excel when he inevitably moves to Europe.

"There's obviously a lot of pressure on him, but I think he's got a pretty good network around him because, when you talk to him, he's not fazed by anything," Postecoglou said.

"That was a pretty big challenge for him with all the focus on him, and apparently there's a couple of thousand scouts out watching him.

"The fact he could perform like that shows if there were any question marks about him stepping up to a bigger stage, I think he answered them."

On Saturday night, Melbourne's Italian community turned out on mass for the Del Piero Road Show. The roar would have almost drowned out the banshee wails of Victoria Azarenka, who was warming up for the Australian Open final across the road.

So add another zero to the contract he will most likely sign with a European club at the end of the season. And continue to curse the sporting gods that the A-League's most exciting talent was born in Hamilton, New Zealand. Not the Hamilton in Victoria.

05:45 GMT: According to reports in the German media, Bundesliga side Nurnberg could sign Melbourne Victorymidfielder Marco Rojas today. Rojas could be loaned back to the Australian side until the end of the 2013/14 season. The New Zealand international also attracted interest from Liverpool and Juventus.

A move to Austria may not be a bad idea.

Hasn't been good enough lately. Drifts out of games far too easily - needs a lot of work before going overseas imo.

Because players don't go through slow periods... these comments are always annoying as hell to me. Even the greatest players are poor at times, it happens, form goes up form goes down.

Looking at wingers in the Prem for example, name me one that has played consistantly week in week out this year other than Bale.

He looked average last night, not so much because of his own play but that of his team. Their passing and movement was woeful.
