Do we even have goal line tech in the A-League? Pretty sure the assistant on the far side gave it and they tend to have a pretty good view. Looked over the line to me as well.
Valley FC til I die?
dont think we ever adopted goal line tech in the a-league. Looked over to me with the multiple replays - great effort from Ball regardless.

Damn they got lucky.
Although we should have cleared that ball earlier in the movement.
David Ball had an outstanding game, even though he didn't get on the scoresheet. This photo proves it. How many forwards would even get into that position?
Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
As with most Nix games this season, that one was pretty nerve wrenching to watch. Lots of accolades flowing for Waine and Sutton, but Talay in his presser quite correctly said they need to keep there feet on the ground.
Waine missed a bit of a sitter just before the goal and he missed a really good opportunity at the end of our last game also. Credit to him for nailing that header, but he's still got a long way to go, thought he was pretty ineffective for a lot of that game, I know he chases hard and leads the press, but needs to get involved alot more on the ball. The only way he is going to get better is with continued game time though. So I still hope to see that.
When I saw Suttons name on the team sheet at the start of the game, I thought that was a hospital pass by Talay, throwing him in there like that. But to Suttons credit, he played well. had as many touches of the ball as Devlin. He didn't bomb forward as much as McGarry does, but got forward when he needed to.
Man of the match for me though was David Ball. He was everywhere, totally leading by example with alot of commitment and attitude. Great team player.

How do you describe the role that Balls plays? A defensive forward or pressing attacker? He regularly puts in shifts that resemble the work of a defensive midfield, but higher up the pitch.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

he's way more creative than I'd expect a defensive forward to be, he often receives the ball from width (he has been started out wide recently) and brings it forward for a decent cross or cut back to one of the front two, certainly not a defensive mid. Pressing attacker would be more accurate I think?

Hey sorry just wondering where Phoenix supporters will be sitting at the Perth game? Just because I want to not sit near Perth lol

There will be a designated away supporters section. Usually the far corner opposite The Shed
Sutton did well, but was not the attacking outlet McGarry is.
I thought McGarry was hard done by to be dropped - he would have the most assists in the team and has certainly offered more than Fenton of late.
Will be interesting to see who starts next week. I wonder if there is a chance of a Hemed / Waine combo up top with Ball dropping wide in place of Sotorio. Would be nice to play with two strikers up top.

Talay said in the post-game presser that Waine was supposed to start with Hemed up top vs WU, so I think thats a high probability if Hemed is fit.
David Ball! I'm not sure how he does it, someone posted it before, you have the feeling there are two Ball's on the pitch. He's definitely one of my all time favorite Nix players, ever. He combines a massive, never give up, work rate with some silky skills on the ball, so good to watch.
Today Ball is having a very good game and it really shows. His impact on the game has been massive
I think that this is the best game I have seen from Ball. He's been everywhere, attack, defence, midfield, both sides of the pitch. What an engine he has got. Well done.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

That smile on Waine's face when he had scored was a million dollar smile and when that Lino flagged for VAR, he looked so distrought. Well done young fella, that was a particularly well taken under pressure header. Thanks for scoring it and Thanks Sam for supplying the most subtle cross.

WE'VE GOT TWO BALLS ON OUR PITCH
Ramming liberal dribble down your throat since 2009
This forum needs less angst and more Kate Bush threads
Goal-line technology is the only part of VAR that actually consistently works well, so of course the A-League doesn't have it.
