The biggest chance waster is Ball. He should have scored about 3 tonight.
Ball has a great work rate but his finishing is barely a step above Sotirio's
That's not really true though. Ball scores about 1 in every 4 games, Sotirio 1 in 6. He's a far more valuable player in every respect.
That's a worthless stat for the conversation. At least give us the mins per goal stat.
But this is an observation based on watching the chances they get and the quality of their finishing. Last season Ball scored 2 or 3 flukey tap ins that were fairly poor strikes.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Ball. But his finishing isn't that great.

both are bang average finishers but Ball plays a lot more minutes then Sotirio.
Both players poor finishing have cost us wins this season.

If we win every game 3-0 he can miss all the open goals he likes!
Great win, but pissed off that Guawateva is allowed to be a pork chop where we’ve been carded in the past and then we catch two yellow cards, where they didn’t in the first half. Net result 3-0 on yellow cards going down the stretch.
Gotta go and watch the highlights to cheer me up again!
If Ball didn't have the #9 jersey, there wouldn't be half the hubbub there is around his finishing. Just looking at his stats, we knew he was no Smeltz from the get go
I'm happy for Davila to leave if it means we can keep Hemed. Really coming into his own these last few games.
Not quite sure about that, to be honest...
Some very good moments aside the question is why Hemed hasn't shown this level of motivation and energy before now.
He hasn't been match fit, starting to find form and fitness. I'd definitely be happy to keep him. I think if he wants to pay in Israel nothing's going to stop him though.

Well I’m slightly less terrified after the performances of Lewis and Piscopo today. And if we have strikers scoring goals there’s less pressure on our tens. But Uli was great us.
Piscopo though illustrates the flaws- 3-4 in the box and he shoots...okay at 3-0 I guess!
I know its been tried before (with Lewis out wide), but could we go back to Lewis and Reno as our wide 10's and have devlin (if he stays) and Steinmann (if he hasn't already signed anywhere) in the midfield? Based on talent and potential ability I don't think we'd be losing much with these two as our 10's.
Hemed also showing his class in the last few games. Would re-sign him if possible, finally starting to gell with the team and it shows. Those little flicks and quick passes are finally sticking, and he's scoring regularly.
Also Tayls in his post match interview managed to struggle out the words "I want to stay" - CB pairing of Payne and Taylor is probably the best we've ever had. Lets keep them. LB of Sutton and McGarry is the best depth in the league and Fenton is getting close to being back to what could be viewed as an effective RB which is great to see.
Listening to the half time commentary I think they watched a different game to us.
Harry is about the only one who's worth listening to.
Even though I disagree with you it's been so long since we had a home game that I've actually missed your regular as clockwork pop at the NZ commentators!
lol, mate both NZ and Aussie commentators are generally poor. Piney talks too fast and Fred is as dry as a piece of wood.
Apart from Harry, the Aussies are much better as a whole. They just get continually criticised because....... well they are Oztraylian.
Though they also have a tonne more experience than likes of Paladin, Green & co. Would be the type of gig the more you do it, the better you'd get for sure.
Kudos Wellington & NZ as a whole, fantastic crowd. Looked a great atmosphere on the telly. Were you watching D Gallop?
Will Nix get a combined NZ home attendance from 2 games, greater than WU get from a whole season in Victoria??
Oh and the Snakes were very very average. Perfect opponents for Nix after 18 months away, and a 24K crowd baying for goals.

Cons for both: Poor finishers. Sotirio Plus: He's fast. Really fast. A plan B (or A) for Uffie when something different is needed. Ball Plus: He doesn't tend to lose the ball when dribbling, also probably a better defender. Tends to make better decisions. Has better close ball control. Occassionally links well with a striker and pulls in a few assists. Plus for both: Both have a good engine and do a lot of defending on their flank helping out their FB. Both chip in with the odd goal which is important.
Summary: Sotirio a really good squad player who adds an extra dimension to the Nix play when required. Ball, a solid if unspectacular visa player that fits into Uffie's tactics almost perfectly - stats show his goal scoring involvements are far higher when playing higher up the pitch but has recently spent a lot of time succesfully helping out his fullback. Another worth addition to the squad despite the visa.
Was it just me or did Fenton actually look like a footballer for a bit there??
Fenton has had some great games for us this year and been one of our most consistent and reliable players. I think. He didn’t do much different to his normal effort today. Maybe some wanna up grade, but who to?
Following from work back in New Plymouth and just want to say I'm so proud of this club.
For all the sacrifices we've made from the backend of last season and relocating to Aussie to finish off our campaign, to having to go through the exact same for 22 out of 26 matches (prior to today) speaks volumes about the character of this club and everyone involved. We love you Phoenix - A massive thank you for everyone turning out today in Wellington. There were many more there with you in spirit and many more who were following in from around the country, and further afield. Get amongst it tonight Wellingtonians, it must be buzzing down there at the moment!
Excellent Game, Fantastic occasion. Well done Wellington and Well done Fever. If you told me 10 years ago, the stadium would still be heaving with a core of talented kiwis, exciting youth players and (mostly) dedicated imports and Aussies, I wouldn't have believed it.
Love that Dura gets his farewell here, and it was probably another nail in Rudans coffin. Sacked in the morning/end of the season.

Callan Elliot and Jack-Henry Sinclair aren’t necessarily better right now but they both have much higher ceilings I reckon

semantic, but Joel King and Zullo for Sydney is defo the best

I get ya. But 'Best we've ever had'
Edit: Drunk and just realised you're talking about LB depth. You win.
What day so good to see many faces from our first season in attendance. The team turned it on to give a brilliant crowd the result they wanted. Home just in time to watch the replay. Bring next season and lets have them home. Wellington that is.
