Question for our new Marketing man>

Will you instigate a match programme next year?
Dont hide behind  FFA and say they dont issue one for each match. Show initiative and present one for the Phoenix Fans.

If clubs playing in Capital Premier are required to do this, it is the least we can expect from the Phoenix.

With and average crowd this year of about 9000 and 50% of them buying a quality programme for just $1 or a coin donation, you have $54000 a season additional income.
Give your key sponsors a little more exposure and add a few more smaller ones who cant quite afford the big dollar at, say $1000 - $2000 a season, maybe 10 of them = $10000 -$20000.
Find a friendly printer to do the job for nothing in return for some advertising at the stadium and you have made $60,000 - $70000 providing a good service to the fans.

Who was that # 21 playing for Sydney last night? Check the programme.

How many people purchased the match programme when it was available? $5.00 glossy thing (by 442 was it)

Not if you exchange printing for sponsorship space,or at least subsidised. It'd just take a bit of time to make a decent one.

I would love to have a collection of Match Programmes. The things they used to sell arent actually relevant to the game, just like a mini magazine.

Christo and Scottishboy, appreciate your comments as they are issues that need to be considered. Some of them I have already mentioned

See my comment re contra deal for a printer. Adverts are produced in pdf by sponsors. Once at the beginning of the season. No meore work there.
Articles can be planned for the 12 matches up front with contributers given plenty of warning and guest writers.
No one bought the $5 magazine at the start because, it was $5 and not a match programme.
I have done this on a lower scale for a club with programmes coming out weekly for Central League and Capital Premier. 16 - 20 pages full colour and given away. It still runs as a profit for the club. Not that hard for a Phoenix person to do in a paid position.

You could fob it off to somebody already employed by the club. Then it wouldn't be a direct cost anyway (though yes, time is money and technically you would have to attribute the time to the cost of producing it).

It's something that is worth the club exploring anyway. If they haven't done so already.

if you can get a good deal with a printer (I know they've been cannibalising themselves for a while now trying to get work) and enough ad revenue to cover all costs then sure.

I don't know if current sponsors would pay more for ad space or if they would see it as part of existing sponsorship deals and expect it for free.

So apart from questions about costs, good idea.

uiron, are your progs available to download anywhere for a nosey?

They produced A4 glossy two sided programs for preseason home games in the past with players etc, wasn't too bad.

Wouldn't have to be a 20 page magazine, just a 4 or 5 page brochure that has a news page and the teams line-ups. In full colour and mass produced wouldn't be too expensive.

I think that nice Mr Cross should do the music at the RoF too. He does a great job at the TW matches.

At the same time, its slightly more value for your sponsorship dollar. Which can only be good.

Make it sound authentic by having a quote from the club spokesperson Threak.

I used to collect the 442 at the matches until they stopped this season. Having a match programme would be a good initiative. I'd do a run of 5,000 to see how it sold for a few home games.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

I got a match programme for the Brisbane game, but I didn't for the Sydney game.  Does anyone have a spare they would like to sell me?

Did you get Victory supporter Feverish to sign his feature page in the programme?

I've got a spare copy of the double header match programme, featuring Nix v CCM 22/12/12 and Nix v Heart 27/12/12.

Would anyone like it?  I'll post it to you free of charge if in NZ
