Meeting the Metrics

Too many ideas getting lost in unrelated topic areas, so new topic for attracting the punters and otherwise meeting those FFA imposed targets...

Sevens atmosphere.

Wellington lost the sevens (I think- rugby not my thing), so now the fans don't get to do that.

Get 50 of those fans to turn up each week dressed up and enjoying themselves, make it a 'thing'

After a couple of home games there will be a groundswell. Yes we lose some of the out of town students through the summer, but there are a lot of local ones still.

It's probably important they are people that are not too fussed about the results in the beginning. Caring and losing are a toxic combination when it comes to boyant crowd. Needs to be about enjoying the atmosphere, at least until results start happening.

Isn't that essentially what YF is a version of?

what ever happened to that good looking girl in the lacy black bra?

A free season ticket to her on the proviso that she kept on doing the same thing at shirts off would bring a number of uni students along with older members back

I will live to regret asking this but - How do attract women supporters?

Yes, I guess. But a bit traditional, proper fans who care too much about the Phoenix rather than the experience.

I never went to sevens, but I imagine it a bit more varied

Sure is a grey area, but if the Nix have a few good looking dudes (aka Fox or a Michael Boxall) who pull a few extra female fans to the games - why not.

Get him to wander around post game with his shirt off, signing autographs, if that helps. Harmless fun. The Nix need every fan they can get.

Anna Kournikova always attracted a large following to her tennis matches, but never won a tournament.

Remember watching in a pub, ABs v Tonga RWC game 2011. Watching with a group of friends, including some females who had little interest in the game. Then suddenly SBW had his shirt ripped off. That man has an impressive physique, and basically ever female in the pub went a little crazy.

Whether you like it or not, sex sells, especially in relation to sport.

However focusing on a good looking female fan in a bra, is just a bit too awkward.

Im not sure about you but the older I get the less my member is coming back, even for an attractive, scantilly clad younger lady

Maybe if the younger ladies wash their new lacy black bras with their white ones then congregated in the same bay in the RoF then we would have a Grey Area!

You're welcome.

1 - Female fans need to feel safe, 2 - Female fans need to understand they are just as important to the club as the male fans. 3 - Female fans to appreciate the finer points of craft beer. 4 - Perhaps offer female fans a slightly cheaper ST or match ticket. We have to get them and more male fans into the games.

Auckland was charging $8 a ticket, yet ST holders were paying $16 here and walk up fans $32+. There in lies some of the problem. Walk up fans in Wellington should only pay $20 max to get in - including Ticketeks grab.

SKY Sports needs to pay more for the A-League rights, how that is going to happen is beyond me but maybe when expansion comes in there will be more games. Rumer is they pay $250k a season which is piss poor.

How about we discuss the metrics instead of making generic misogynistic comments?

We'd probably attract more female members if the males within our supporters base learnt how to respect them.

How do they calculate the metrics? The numbers at a game is easy to understand, but isn’t there something about the numbers watching the tv broadcast? Where do they get the statistics for this - I mean how do they know whether one person is watching at home or fifty at the pub? (Makes me a bit frightened to pick my nose when watching the tv when I think about this!)

No, I think he's definitely human. Australian, mind you, but definitely human.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Will Fox Sports presenters now stop with the cheaps shots or is Rudan about to experience the sort of crap that Ricki, Ernie,Rad and everyone else experienced when involved with the Nix? Still it might be an eye opener for him too and perhaps he might try and figure out why all the hate?

A quick look at St. Pauli fan base might even suggest that inclusiveness and diversity are in fact a great way to grow supporter numbers from all quarters - not just women. Wouldn't that be a hell of a legacy for us to aspire towards.

Same with Portland Timbers.  Changing the name to something that isn't derogatory to Asians and women would be a start.

You know we belong together...

Yeah Timbers another great example. Both are teams where the off-field metrics are significantly better than the on-field should suggest.

I mean I wouldn't be at all opposed to a name change so perhaps that is a first step. Who knows.

But I'm also unaware of it ever actually being used even slightly in that context by the group or people near to it.

It's always played on the disease with the "symptoms of Yellow Fever" health advisory thing that got done at one point and stuff like that. Even with google you struggle to find the alternative meaning unless you are looking for it.

But yeah I didn't come up with the name nor am I strongly in favour of it so I don't plan to defend it with any real effort.

A 'new name for the Fever' is a great sharkfight thread in prospect.

Considering my last post got deleted by some mod when I talked about shirts off and that the black lacy bra was a better look then [redacted]'s  torso, I don't think we can talk about aspirations

AP it would seem very likely if that happened it would be because you are playing the person not the ball.

It's entirely possible to try and make whatever point you hoped to make without directing it at one specific person as you often seem to.

Dave with all due respect as you are a rationale guy if you put the post up then others could comment

All I did was say the persons username twice

That's not playing the person

Especially when you look at his comments

As everyone knows I don't mod here often so I'm not going to question the decision of those that do but from your description it seems entirely fair to me that it was removed for precisely the reason I gave you.

Disagreeing with opinions is allowed, even welcomed. Attacking users personally is not.

As I said Dave you are a rationale person so I don't believe you removed the comment

If you ask the mod to post it you can however comment and you will find no attack there. I did nothing more then say .the persons username as you did when addressing me and at the same time defend the lady in question
