Is anyone else heading to Melbourne for the Victory/Nix + Melbourne Cup double? Only four weeks to go. (05/06 November)

Sort of - like Tommy. We are going over on the Weds, and staying through for Derby Day. Unfortunately have to come home before the game, and the Cup, but Derby / Mackinnon will be a fantastic atmosphere.
But I 'bet' Ricki will be there for the race as well :)

I think it was the Transport last year - then you walk to the stadium along the river. May be thinking wrong stadium!
The Transport works for the AAMI and the MCG, Etihad is a bit further away to walk (only 2-3 train stops away though). In the first season away trip we drank at the Celtic Pub (maybe?) before the game, and the Charles Dickens after, but don't know if those two places still work.

If it was the same year - we got a police escort from the Celtic pub to the game. Which was quite brilliant if not a little surreal.
