There was an interesting article in the latest Four Four Two magazine about West Hams 1999 Youth Cup winning team which beat Coventry 9-0 on aggregate (still a record score for a final)
The article was about what has happened to the players in the team since and how their careers have progressed as great things were expected of them.

Lo and behold though, who was captain for the first leg of the final but our very own Michael Ferrante. It even mentioned that he is now playing for Wellington Phoenix. A lot of you probably already knew this but it came as a pleasant surprise to me.

I think plodder was very unlucky to not get more game time ahead of him.

He was completely atrocious in that final game against Melbourne, and seemed to play the whole season on the back of one 15 minute stint and a glowing haigiography from Ross Aloisi.  It didn't help that the rest of the team was playing sh*t at the time, so there wasn't any real comparison.

I'm hoping he's squad material, unless he goes through a huge transformation. I would hope Brown, McKain and Diego (Lia?) would all be ahead of him in the midfield...Hearfield, Costa and Leo ahead of him on the flanks. Possibly even Mulligan if he plays like he did against Melbourne.

Need some convincing of his class again, despite past form.
