Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

A shame that Michael "we love you Michael..." White has got tired of waiting for things to happen. He would have been a great reminder of the final last days of the Knights (!!!) when he was up with the boys in the Bloc having a good time. Didn't we all!
All the best to Michael, hope he gets some football over there. "we'll miss you Michael, because you've got red hair..."

It was good on that final game but in reality I think we have better U20's
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
We may have better u20s but they dont play in NZ.

Erm, yeah they do.

I'd pick Costa, Edgington and Spoonley ahead of White

And you watch the NZFC and other leagues regular do you?

And went to every game at the Knights?

Judging by your location, I guess not.

Season Ticket holder for Team Wellington every season, Season Ticket Holder for Football Kingz seasons 3 to 5 even though I lived in Wellington, sorry only managed 6 knights games ,
managed to get to most of Hilton Petone and 2 central league games so far this season.

So in answer, Yes I do watch plently of footy so give up on your guessing Nembo and let others have an opinion.

White should have a fantastic time in the conference!

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Did you see him recently play for Waitakere?

He was pathetic.

And the fact White was almost bottom of the pecking order for the Knights said something.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I don't know if he will even play conference if Buari is playing there.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Precisely - Buari was picked ahead of him!

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I dont recall Buari being a NZ u20 player which is what the discussion was about.

Are you on the right page today?

We are talking about the quality of Michael White, and the fact that Buari was preferred to him, and hes playing conference. Says a lot about MW

I not so sure about this but doesn't Shane Smeltz play for Halifax in the conference as well and he is in the national team.

Could Shane be a good signing for the Phoenix because you would think the pay would be better in the A-League.

Malik Buari isnt playing in the conference. Got dropped after his first game apparently.

It's hardly White's fault that people were blind to Buari's general rubbishness.

I'm not really too sure of his form at the moment. He's never really been an outstanding player (from an NZ perspective) in terms of his performances. It'd be worth keeping an eye out on how he performs for Halifax over the next  month or so until English season's end. I think Halifax weren't diong so well last time I checked and they might drop out of the conference. If that happens Smeltz could get released. . . any one know more about this?

Michael White is rubbish!
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago

Dont sign Smeltz. Would prefer Fisher, Coveny or a young NZFC striker.

Yea I know - I was one of the first on t he NZK forum to pick up how crap he really was.

I highly doubt that. I knew he was sh*t because he came from a conference club and Woking are quite sh*t.DannyPHOENIX2007-04-13 17:40:22

Check back through the  knights forums then

I don't think Buari was rubbish. Lots of people will say that he was only good because of that cracking goal versus Adelaide in round 2, but in the last game of the season against the Glory when Buari played as a striker, he had a brilliant game.

Does anyone see what I mean after the NZFC final where he did it again?

Narrow minded, very selfish player that has very little strength and is a very bad diver.
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Nope, not convinced.  Thought that with some decent coaching he showed genuine signs.  Thought the only man better in a Waitak shirt was Pearce Jnr..

As a central defender nothing more pisses me off than fighting for the ball to give it to some plonker that refuses to pass, dribbles sensesly (across the whole field horizontally at times) and doesnt have enough strength to hold on to the ball for more than 5 seconds. Very, very annoying player. Dont rate him at all

sh*t, that sums him up :P NHpeter2007-04-20 12:26:21

We are just veiwing him as an u20s player unlikely to get much game time. Put him in the right enviroment and give him time to develop.

Yeah like a good old conference team where he can blossom and learn from the likes of greats such as Malik Buari.

Whats the piont of having a pro team here it it's not used to develop our young talent. Thats why they have the 3 spots for the kids. Waste of time sending him off to be coached by usless pommy coaches, he will only delevop into a crappy conference league player.

Sorry just re-read what you wrote "greats such as Malik Buari", I see now you were not being serious.

I thought he looked a far better player coming on for the Knights each time than a couple of times I have seen him play for Waitakere.

I really feel he has potential that the Phoenix should be tapping into and also we don't have a lot of left sided players to choose from, come on Ricki sign him up!

almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Nah Ricki, let him play with Buari
almost 19 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Michael made an impression first night at the Knights.  Managed to bustle through a few tackles.  Able to break through at lower speeds, but once through he was by himself most of the time.  In a year or two he wont think "what do I do now?".  Riki was right, "get some time at a professional club, then come back".

Great strength was getting to the ball first, gaining possession.
I'd like to nickname Michael, work-in-progress.  Hone your skills Michael, be the finished product.  You promise a lot.  No doubt you will deliver.  See you in two years.
