Boy they took their chances. They should be a force this year. For
me it was Smeltz and Lochead again who shone.

Agreed, I thought Smeltz looked pretty sharp toward the end of the
match

Have to agree about Smeltz ,wee Daniel is going to have to watch
the theatrics though ref has him down on the team sheet as Jacques
Cousteau !
Disappointing but not the end of the world plenty of season left!

Smeltz or Felipe for me.
Great atmosphere at the Fever Lounge too - it was a great
turnout!

Smeltz and Lochead. Daniel can sit on bench for all i care i cant
stand him. Just stay on ur feet. Felipe did really well but i dont
know if he a starter. More impact player.

smeltz seems to work really well with Felipe.... would be
interesting to see them both starting - might combat our troubles
inside the first half an hour

It was a toss up between smeltz and felipe but I had to go smeltz.
He just seemed to have that little edge.

We need to clone Lochhead for an all Lochhead defense. :P

i was gona vote o'dor because he had stunning first half but felipe
is just irresistable.....
Daniel better stop diving its really annoying to

The only reason Felipe is not starting is because his is not fit,
my guess is, that he will make the starting eleven for the jets
game, Wellington were all over the mariners in the last 15-20 min,
could have easily came away with a result if the finishing was
better.

I agree and if he is not careful the ref will be looking for
it and he will continue to get booked for it

Felipe again for me. Some great flashes in there - maybe he can be
our Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?
I hope the current form of only being good in the last 20 minutes isn't going to be our style for the season....we were pretty abysmal up to that point. :-(

Felipe again great impact player, once he's fully fit will be invaluable.Smeltz played right through good effort.he's my pick
Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Lochhead for me. Solid performance. I am biased
though. Felipe was great too.

Smeltz, easy. Btw, was it just me, or did he look quicker on TV?

Smeltz or cleberson
I thought Cleberson was cover-your-eyes awful. He was giving balls away like he was Santa at an orphanage. Also needs to realise that defending requires a bit of guile, not just a big heart and strong physical play.

who the
hell voted for Ferrante??
someone who is very poor at pointing a mouse

who the

Maybe it was John Matheson? From his article in the Sunday News:"In midfield Michael Ferrante is always a threat, if a little anxious,"

ya definite cringe factor when i read that, quite obviously had
very little clue

Lockhead for me, played very well at the back.
Felipe had a great game, but lockhead held us up thourgh the
whole match.

So how do we brainwash the players so that they think there is only
15 minutes to go when the game starts?
The teams gonna spend a lot of time playing catch-up if they
don't start playing until 30 minutes in. If they can start a game
like they've finished the last 2 then look out.
For me Tony Lockhead showed his class.
"We all dream of a team of Tony Lockheads"

Agree about Fellipe but not about the last 20 minutes.
You can't "leak" 3 goals and then expect to get a result out
of the last 20 mins. We were awful, lacking the co-hesion required
to put any plan into operation.
I was really surprised to see that the lessons from the
Melbourne game had not been learned, re the start ing attack line
up. Why are our attacks so complicated and slow? So many things to
go wrong. and usually do. Whats wrong with keeping it simple like
the CCM play it.
Daniel's diving is a pain in the arse.
Looks suspiciously like the Knights/Kingz all over again! I
hope not.

Lochhead for sure. Great work by him.
Oh yeah - to people saying it looks like the Kingz/Knights again ... It's one bloody game! For christ sake. Only one team has won over two rounds. Perspective please.

How rubbish was that article ?
I assume he had about 24 hours to write that.

Getting that shape going forward is vital, otherwise you lose any
advantage (probably the main thing I learned from watching Arsenal
for 10 years). Same in defence.
We had a really good passing game in the first game, not
afraid to send it about in midfield, rather than halking it back to
the goal keep (okay thats not bad for safety sakes). Still
miles better than the Knights.

from my view it was passing and possession without
penetration
the mariners were letting the phoenix pass the ball as much as
they like in midfield and defence hence the skewed possession
stats
but when it came to actually attacking the nix looked impotent
- there were not enough angled runs and angled passes - it was all
in a straight line and easy pickings for the organised
mariners defence
the team has plenty of good players and potential but too many
passangers as well

most of your midfield - ferrante, christie, aloisi (cannot
remember him completing a successful forward pass) and even daniel
does not get back to defend
and it is not surprising given that three of these four
players mentioned are cast offs from other clubs
tim brown will improve your midfield no end
o'dor of course who just got slaughtered by kwasnik and
heffernan - watched both players run past him most of the
night
very surprised that cleberson had such a teriible game
lochead was your best player closely followed by smeltz
