Great effort.

Hard to pick one person, but I think I'll give it to Costa. He scored and played very well.

From what I saw (Probably 3/4 of the match) Costa.

Smeltz, Daniel, Bertos all played well aswell.

Has to be McKain - we are a different team when he fires up. Carries the ball forward with a bit of thrust and seems to think ahead instead of just reacting about what to do with the ball!

Intelligent footballer and really hope he extends his contract beyond next year. Ok as a CD but a much better midfielder for mine

McKain was a monster in the second half. Did them in time and again.
I can't consider Costa just because he got a goal.

Sigmund - unsung hero today. Lots of muscle, many vital tackles and headers, and a couple of chances at the other end. We are so much better with this bloke.

McKain also outstanding, and huge efforts from nearly everyone else, especially Muscat, Bertos, Smeltz and Daniel. Costa stepped up and played like a man. Fantastic stuff.

Costa gets my vote - young kid, had f**k all game time for 2 years, gets thrown in the deep end and rises to the occassion - created plenty of havoc and scored. He is a good player who will develop in to an even better player as he grows in experience and gets stronger on the ball.

McKain is awesome when he monsters his way throught the midfield and Leo is consistently outstanding.

Sigmund and Muscat vying for unlikely find of the season - both rock solid.

The not the player of the day award for yet another week goes to discipline and professionalism - stupid, unnecessary, dumb, thoughtless, brainless yellow and red cards.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

I went for Siggy, thought he was great at the back, and pushed forward a bit as well. Could have easily given it to Manny, McKain, or Dodd, though. Having Daniel definitely added a bit of spark in midfield imo, and Leo and Costa added a lot of pace to our attack. Thought we deserved the 3 points out of that game. hlmphil2009-01-18 20:55:32

Daniel for mine, although Costa and McKain both deserve honourable mentions.

I agree with you entirely, but will vote for McKain, as I think he had the most influence on the match as a whole.

But Costa did really well for next to no game time under his belt. Muscat Sigmund and Dodd were also contenders.

Well played lads

So those that voted for Costa reckon he was the best Nix player on the park? Better than McKain, Siggy and Bertos?
He was ok, but seriously? This is for the player that was above all others.

Muscat for me, found space well and combined well down the flank.

Suprised to not see many votes for Daniel. Thought he was great and had his best game of the season by far.

Muscat, McKain, Costa were close behind. Thought Moss and Smeltz were a bit off colour in their last home game.

Muscat those one on one takles are great not many players get the better of him.

Plus the way he got forward to support othes.

When the ball was lost he got back into psition real quick.

McKain came a close second.

Pimm was there today, spoke to a VIP group beforehand and said he was there to watch McKain, Dura(gutted) and a few of the Adelaide lads so he has a shot. Show a bit of consistency and he would go close

imagine McKain v Brown at international level

that would be a game.

Voted Costa, very strong arguments for McKain, Siggy and Bertos etc but to be thrown into such a season defining game after 155 minutes of A-Leaggue football in 2 years and get under the skin of the toughest defence in the league like he did last night was incredible, he lasted the whole game (I think) and bagged a goal which has kept our season alive, gives me goosebumps.
McKain was imense, and I think needs to be encouraged to used his dribbling skills more often, he can win a ball but he also glides past players and as Tigers mentioned he was doing Brown's job as well as his on for 40 minutes.
You know we belong together...

Is right. These two have been super for us. Muscat gets MoM for me, but it could have been anyone of the team.

except Brwon perhaps, though his first yellow was pretty harsh and the ref could have sent one or two of them off for certainn challenges.

I'd say he's in with a pretty good chance. He's been in top form these last few weeks and had an amazing game last night. If Pimm was watching, he must have been impressed.

Didn't he get replaced by Ferrante? I only remember because I was seriously scratching my head at the time.

Yea, he went down with what looked like cramp. Was taken off shortly after.

Costa by far.
Its the opportunity he was waiting for for ages, he got it and ran with it.
Smeltz did under perform a little bit but he is a pretty consistant player and I doubt it will continue next week because it is a huge game and he understands how much it means to the club and players.
I was really impressed last night by costa though, he proved why he should be in the starting 11 and I hope he gets a start next week..
Kwasnik Also played a very good 10 minutes, in previous weeks he came on and wasnt really noticed, but he really pushed last night and Impressed me.

(Lol, who voted for plodder?)

Muscat for me he was outstanding and even laid on the beautiful cross field ball for the goal.

McKain a close second did Brown's work after he'd got sent off and even provided a lot of the go forward and to be frank he was doing a lot of Brown's work before he got sent off as well.

Costa was great particularly after he scored the goal that seemed to give him a boost in confidence and he was a real handful for the balance of the game.

Daniel provided a bit of quality and showed what we'd been missing by leaving him on the bench most of the season.

Only negatives were another lacklustre display from Lochead. We really need another left back to challenge him as he has been an underperformer most of the season and needs a bit of competition for his spot and the deadball delivery from free kicks by Bertos is woeful.

Gave it to Mc Kain. It was a hard decision and I would have loved to give it to Costa. He got on the scoresheet and played a great game. Still, if you follow my reasoning, Mc Kain held the 75% of our midfield throughout the game. In fact he held about 50% of the midfield in the 1st half with the aid of Brown. He basically played the whole of the 2nd half by himself and Adelaide had to resolve to shooting from 30meters. Nothing past him!

He was immense in the defensive AND offensive side of the game. Ogenovsky had to take him down kick-boxing style after Johno, 75 minutes into the game, got a great break in the midfield.

An inspiring performance, especially for us midfielders watching. I had goose-bumps when he came off. I envy Smeltzy's shot, Daniel's skills, Costa's pace..but if I had to choose, I wish I were McKain!!!
