Manny for me. Close one between Ward & Manny.

Ward for me. But I thought Manny and Greeny were excellent also. Can't believe some people are still bagging Greeny.

Sigmund, Ward and Bertos for me.

Bertos still wasn't that great but he was streets ahead of what he has been. Which makes me happy.

Ward, Greenie and Muscat all excellent for me, gave it to Greenacre who I thought was class, he might even score a few if Hearfield and Bertos could deliver the ball with a bit of quality.

This. Greenie worked his ass off all night, just lacked some service. Wonderful work in the 1-2 for Ward.

If Greeny had Daniel doing the crossing he'd have had a lot more chances.

I thought Manny played very well tonight, hopefully the jetlag doesnt hit him midweek.

Greenacre does alot of good work, but I think Pav is better suited for the 4-5-1 formation.

Top 5 as decided by whom though? What if your top 5 omits someone a lot of other people would legitimately vote for? IMHO keep the current system and just ignore joke votes.

Everyone in the team seemed to fire up a bit this game. Alot less lacklustre then have been. Even thought Lochhead was solid defensively. I reckon he's been told by Ricky to get back to being a good defender than add the attack in when that comes.

Agree.......Hearfield and Bertos need so much to work on crossing.Leo's corners are ok but he is lacking a "spark" in my view. ChopperHarris2010-09-12 07:39:18

Bertos was a lot more positive, but when he's not in good form he is pretty aweful which is a shame. Hearfield was worst player on the park last night IMHO, perhaps might have had first clean sheet of the season had he been paying attention. I guess its a bit of a headache seeing as we're so well balanced with Manny in front of the back 4. Wasnt Lia going to play RB last season or whenever it was he got injured??

I was saying to my mate only a few mins before the 2nd goal that Ward had probably been the best player out there, then he steps up and hits a belter! Good lad keep it up

I thought we played some very good football last night. Everyone went up a notch or two from previous games.

My MoM was Greenie - I thought that was his best ever game in a Nix shirt - he was showing all the time and his close control was outstanding. He was also looking to play the game at pace and lay off to Ifill, Leo etc. Greenie was also assisted by some of the most accurate passing I seen from us for a while.

Even before he scored that screamer I was impressed with Ward - I think the nature of his game (higher risk, higher gain passes) is such that he will have games that range from sublime to sh*t but I think he will add that creativity we have been missing in the middle of the park.

Only concern for me was we still looked a bit vulnerable through the middle at the back - enter Jade North.

He dribbles a lot and the opposition dont like it - you can see it all over their faces. (Ron Atkinson)

Agree. he wasn't anything spectacular but he did the basics well. More impressed that he played the simple pass more often and linked up with Leo well instead of hoofing it long which he has been proned to do in the past.

Already got a clean sheet under our belt, 2nd home game of the season against CCM.

Ward, by a mile. So refreshing to see some creativity in the midfield and some attacking intent going forward.

Greenie worth mentioning too, the man is all class.

Ward had a great game which he capped off with a great goal.  Sublime to watch.  Muscat was a savage in the middle, great player, while Greenie had a good game.  Siggy was fairly solid, as was Dura.  Lochhead was better than usual but he still had a few of those extremely frustrating moments when he dicks round by the line and the ball dribbles slowly over it (I think that was Lochy, anyway, could have mixed him up).  Hearfield was doing OK for parts of it but his crossing was terrible and in the first half it seemed that every pass he did had to hit a Sydney player on the way.

on the basis of that performance Ward knows where to put the ball, and where to be, he works hard and has the skill to get the ball under and let it go quickly

even before his goal i'd talked him up 3 or 4 times - v. pleased with that performance and what it indicates
