Manny

Edit: Ok, was gonna copy paste but the whole thing seems to have dissapeared. Manny made some important intercepts and stops in the 1st half and covered well, also did reasonably well on the problem left side in the 2nd.aitkenmike2010-01-23 02:43:24

Fair enough.

Caceres for me.  Though cut-outs would've been more effective than most of them.

Dadi was an absolute donkey, and the only one who came anywhere near him in terms of arse-ness is that referee.

Durante should have broken Sekulovski's neck.  I only saw Sekulovski shoulder Lia but I figure Lia must've done something to instigate it.

Caceres, he was the only one out there who even tried to start something.

Sadly I have to agree - with so much riding on the game (home play-off / locking in top 6) I still can't believe how badly we played. We looked like a rabble - we had no shape whatsoever.

I'm sorry to say but I think the route cause of the problem was switching Hearfield to LB and playing Sigmund at RB.

Playing 3 DMs works OK when the full backs are getting forward - Sigmund doesn't (much) and Hearfield didn't when he was on the left. Hearfileld beats players by pushing the ball past them and then beating them with pace - he didn't have the skill / confidence to do that off his left foot. He was much better in the second half when switched back to the right.

With the wonderful benefit of hindsight we should have started the way we finished 4-4-2 with Manny and Hearfield as full backs or 4-4-1-1 with Caceres on.

Ah I see the first got rescinded at half time.

And I would have preferred to have been asleep than watch that rubbish.

They all played like crap. Bertos corners were poor. crosses were poor. ball skills and passes were poor. they only thing that looked worse then there performance was the hidious come play shirts.

Agree with almost every word although not sure it needed hindsight, think the coaches got too cute with their team selection and formation.

Cannot think of anyone deserving of MOM, Caceres did add a bit of spark when he came on.

I was being polite - Herbert got it horribly wrong in his haste to get Sigmund playing again.

To be fair to Herbert, over the last few weeks, he has got a lot more right than he has got wrong and he did realise and act on the problem at half time - unfortunately it was all over by then.

Agreed.

Even if Sigmund was put in RB, Muscat is a full back and Hearfield is a midfielder, it's almost like he wrote their names in the wrong places before kick off. It was pretty obvious Troy couldn't cope at left back, and its hardly his fault he was stuck there. He should almost get MOM just for having our only decent shot of the whole game.

Mckain had a good game with a lot of tackles but when he gets the ball he pretty much just lumps it forward. That is something that needs work on IMO. Dura is so calm on the ball,, he doesn't rush things.

oh, and can WE f**kING LEARN HOW TO TAKE THROW INS ??????????

honestly, the amount of times we have a throw in no-one moves around. We are static.

Crowther. He warmed that bench like a champion. He doesn't look like he has the figure for bench warming, but he makes up for it in enthusiasm

McKain needs to work on his volleys from outside the box and, ofcourse, his hoofing the ball upfield.

I chose Caceres with Ifill as a distinct second place and a large gap to everyone else.
