McKain's options were atrocious, put him back in the defensive line Durante OUT.

Durante had his head up his arse.

Leo was incisive and suits attacking down the middle.

Greenacre tried hard, needed the ball to his feet.

Still not comfortable with Paston in goal.

Ifill will be good when he settles down.

This game might have been good for Costa.

No one stood out for me particularly, maybe Leo.

Thought the back for looked very susceptible considering they played virtually all last season together. Durante is far too slow and got caught out. I wish that when the Jets played a lob over the top, that our back four didn't stop and stand there with their hands in the air.. How about play to the whistle!

I don't think that Brown and Mckain should play together, especially at home. Brown seemed too anonymous for a CM. Mckain came up with a couple of very poor decisions on attack (i.e. when Daniel was unmarked out wide right but he passed centre and turned over possesion).

Greenacre and Hearfield played well but my MOM is Bertos.

At least we have Pasty instead of Kennedy.

Moss wouldn't have done any better and you lot would class it as a beautiful save that resulted in a goal because of the defence. Typical two standards.

Big Bad Ben
couple of mistakes
but it looks like he is interested and shows urgency

without Bertos we showed nothing in the front half

some farcical decision making in front third

at least we got 2 goals.

leo had a great game...Paston made me realise what a good keeper mossy was. I think that greenacre was ok  ifill looked a bit slow...Brown for me was upalling and it showed. I dont think that brown and mckain play well together and out of the two mckain would get my vote. We are still missing the boat not having a midfield link up playeralthough to be fair it wouldnt have made much difference initially as the defence were so piss poor the best midfielder in the world wouldnt have made a difference. Can only get better from here(fingers crossed)

Hate to say it but bertos had a good game. Set up both goals. Still needs to learn to shoot though but he was good.

That 'save' which resulted in a goal was far from outstanding. The bloke smashed it right at him ffs.

Three for me, and two for them.

Still half of you think that Paston would normally let that through. That goal was by no means his fault.wellyphoenixfan2009-08-09 19:28:07

He was a more positive effect for the Nix then Durante.

Half the players that come to this club go down in quality; Durante, Kwasnik and Elrich are excellent examples. Look how well Kwasnik and Elrich are playing now aswell since they left.

I'm just suprised that Bertos is winning so comprehensively. I didn't really think he dominated the game as much as he could have.

Bertos played well, also impressed with Greenacre's workrate. Durrante had a shocker, glad thats outta the way, bet he plays well for the rest of the season.

No it wasn't but it was by no means outstanding either. He made one good save off Elrich in the 2nd half and that was about it.

Three for me, and two for them.

I think Greenacre will be able to live up to Smeltz, provided we can get some service to him. The two Brazilians could perhaps do this and when Ifill comes right we could be dangerous on attack with Diego, Daniel, Bertos, Ifill and Greenacre.

Bertos no question.

Greenacre was good, hearfield too.

Good signs of things to come from Ifill and Diego.

Muscat, Sigmund(great goal) were solid.

Otherwise....average.

I was thinking just the opposite, but of course it's way too early to say for sure. My impression is that Greenacre is not as potent as Smeltz, and that he's not as good in the air. Mind you, most of those long balls were utter rubbish.

With Ifill I kept thinking he's a mid in strikers clothing, but time will tell.

Daniel lost the ball more then 3 times when he came on one of which led to them speeding down to the other end and scoring, mckain and brown together equals disaster, brown out and diego on, atleast he looked like he wanted the ball. get that lockhead out, absolute sh*t, plays a seperate game to the rest of the defence, durante was terrible but hope he will come good, bertos and greenacre were the best, ifill has a good touch and when he gets more familiar with the team should be good, hearfield was good, but his diaganal balls to no one piss me off

I saw him touch it, then lose it, which lead to third goal

Would he want to play like the rest? (Siggy apart)

what i mean is that his positioning means the rest of the defence gets screwed, happened last year as well, and there are no bloody midfielders tracking back all the way into the box, amazing how the defence could be so sh*t, with two defensive midfeilders infront of them

like last season? open ur eyes, bertos mom by a mile looked sharp and our only player to cause them trouble. Thier bald italian took the piss out of our middle two, glad to see ricki playin a 442 at least we are aiming to play postitively from a tactical viewpoint. Need to cut out the long ball though surely

We did.  For the first 10 to 15 we played it a bit in a panicked line-clearing way but after that Newcastle played WAY more long ball than we did,
