good game all round

brown for me - closed down a lot of play and was still getting forward and still closing it down when things were more ragged for the defense at the end

agree with who-ever said ward got to play off the back of brown (and muscats) work

good team effort, made melbourne look ordinary

Apparently all the Hearfield voters are voting for Bertos this week.

Nah I reckon  two scoops had a good  game I think  the criticism he received a couple of weeks back has done the trick and he realises he's not in Sth Africa any more!

North had a great 1st game tbh. I don't think I could fault him on anything.

I went Bertos. He was great on the ball and he was running like a mad man after the ball. Ward was good too, but there were a few times when he tried to play the ball out off our third and gave it away, when he should have passed or cleared. But he was great otherwise. I'd prefer a player who tries to do too much on occasion but more often then not beats his man, than someone who produces nothing in the midfield. Ward is looking like the creative spark in the midfield we need. Alongside Brown and Manny, the midfield was very sound tonight.

This. He was mud.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Ifill and Ward were the two who made things happen tonight, Leo also very good. All three tracked and defended well too.

I'm really liking our new midfield. The fact that Melb put very little pressure on our back four is a tribute to the mids hard work. Just need a striker who puts a bit of fear into the opposition now.

Midefield excellent collectively, North had a good debut, and Sigmund didn't f**k up RB too badly... too many players to choose from!

Hard to choose but I'll go with Ward as like last week, he went looking for the ball and tried to create things when he had it. He's almost like an Ifill who plays in the middle.

Definitely Ward for me. He added that more of a creative look to our midfield.

Ifill still off the boil but give him time!

I actually thought this was the best Ifill performance this season.

beat players multiple times unlike the previous games.

imo

Defence was quite obviously the standout for us this game so I voted for Dura.

Leo was the only one who tried to do anything in a pretty shocking first half for us offensively.

I thought he was mainly redundant but two good reaction/instinct saves (but any good keeper like Paston would have those reactions)... :-)

Pav looked good but not enough time to warrant a result so probably Ward

I'm not going to lie, agree with whoooooooo on that one.  Ifill has been mediocre all season - today he was head and shoulders better than he has been, though not enough to get my man of the match.  Siggy got it for me.  Did more than OK playing in right-back of all places.  Delivered a good cross in the first half (as well as a horrible one) and made some good runs forward.  Ward impressed also and Pavlovic, from what he did, impressed me.  I wouldn't mind seeing him start.

Ifill hasn't been great all season, granted. But he certainly wasn't great today either.

He's not at his best but still manages to be one of the better players on the park (ifill)

I went with ward for MOM though. He holds the ball well, has good positional play, can pick out a pass along the ground,us creative and has the touch and ability to beat his man.

Allegedly

Tough one. either Manny, Ward or North. Manny by a whisker.

Looking even stronger at the back with North in there.

Ward. Finally we have a midfielder who looks to create something when he gets the ball, some great passing (although not always 100% accurate) but the point is that he's always looking to attack or at least build an attack. Between him and brown and muscat I think we have the perfect balance in midfield. Good signs.

North for me.

Superb for someone who's only had one training with the team. Love the haircut and the rejection of Ricardinhos handshake after a challenge.

Yeah, I like the look of him as well. You're never really going to get someone in the A-League that hit the target 100% of the time though.

Really like what Ward brings to our midfield.

Manny got mine, but could have gone to a number. Having him anchoring the middle seems to make a huge difference to how we defend. Ward was very close - a midfielder that looks to receive and distribute has also made a difference to the way we are playing the game.

North for me. Good solid first up game, didnt see him put a foot wrong, and the defense just looked better, although admittedly Melb didnt have much there to trouble us
