Glenn Moss once again. Really is in fine form.

Three for me, and two for them.

Stop grizzling, it was a fair result.
Elrich is d**khead for doing that, he should have known better.

Our defence held up well, all things considered.

I thought we were slapped with more yellows than we deserved, but I have no quibbles with the red or with the penalty decision.

For doing what Bevan ?

Unless you have seen footage that was not carried on the TV we all watched there is absolutely no footage of Elrich doing anything wrong.

I'm not saying he's innocent, but I have seen no evidence to prove he was guilty of anything.

Moss for me, made some great stops, and I don't think anyone else really stood out.

I bet the Raw have a spot on their MOM poll for the Ref, and I bet he's winning.

PS actually lol-ed at the title, nice one HN, and the Ahmad Elbow. V good.

Sure, it wasn't clear that he elbowed the Roar player, and it wasn't clear whether he was responding to something, but, the ref isn't going to make something like that up.

The ball wasn't involved, so it can't have been an overzealous challenge accidentally taken too far.
Therefore it was probably done with the hope that nobody else was watching at the time.

If we do get some footage, and it's not clearly an elbow then fine, but for now I think we have to take the ref and linesman's word for it.

As the marquee player he should be setting an example to the team, not just in skills but in sportsmanship too.

Dammit - I want to be able to say

Thought Brown, Moss, Old and Johnson all had pretty good games. Daniel was a bit more visible this week too.

Can somebody send Moss a screeny of the last 3 MOTM polls to get his spirits HIGH!!!! I mean he needs to know that the whole of YF is saying he has played the best in our team the last few weeks best goal keeper in the a-league in my opinion.

Why's that? He makes several decent saves a game and you couldn't really blame him for any of the goals.

Three for me, and two for them.

In terms of Moss's performance I can think of four reasons for why we shipped three goals, none of which relate to his performance...

1.  Down to 10 men for 55 mins.
2.  A penalty.
3.  A moment of equisite skill.
4.  One on one in the box when let down by defence.

Moss was very good.

True all round.

I'm pretty confident I saw the elbow in footage last night.

Dismissable Offence in A-League when the ref sees it, but, to be honest, there's far harsher 'off the ball' jostling going on in most matches - so in some repects he was unlucky to have been caught.

I don't know if the ref was one eyed but I sure can see that the Roar has mastered the art of taking a dive!
As for the red card, if the ref actually saw it fair enough, but I kinda doubt he did and he just brought into  the Oscar performance!

Moss under all the pressure, performed exceptionally!

Be good to see the boys at home this weekend!

Moss - always busy and kept high standards followed by Old - his best game for the nix, started a bit shaky but settled into the CB position nicely - maybe showed enough to push plodder out of RB ?

Moss is giving it everything out there. You can see his determination. In fact you can see it on most of the guys faces.
I thought early on when Qld were kncoking the ball round nicely in our half, that we passed on our man when they made a run, but we seemed to be passing them on to no one. More communication perhaps? We were always going to struggle to penetrate with ten men, we are struggling enough with eleven.
Also I see Dodd is inclined to lump it forward now - prob based on the defensive errors they are trying to rid themselves of.
Obviously Plodder was shown up for pace - and I couldnt believe it towards the end, when he showed the winger the inside instead of pushing him wide. Defence 101

You guys must have incredible vision because form the footage I, and everybody else saw, there looked like nothing in it.
I would question whether the ref or linesman even saw it or the just saw the guy rolling round on the ground so they sent him. Linesmen were incompetent anyway, they called Elrich offside earlier in the game when Daniel slipped him through and he was clearly onside.
Interesting that Reinaldo got away scot free when he had an off the ball incident with Johnson...
Penalty was fair enough though.

Apart from the thought Dodd, Lochhead and Moss were all superb once again.
Also pleasantly surprised with Old.

Very true. The other thing that pissed me off was when Moore hacked Daniel down just outside the box in the first half. It was a professional foul, late tackle, perhaps even a marginal DOGSO. Yet no card at all. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Elrich's reaction was of surprise to the rolling about of the cock.  Either Elrich is a gifted actor or the dirty Queenslander pulled a fast one on the ref.  My observation is that you can normally tell from a player's reaction if they've done the dirty and Elrich looked genuinely bemused.  10/10 for the Korean guy though, he went through well with the collapse, the grimace, the "get the physio to check my teeth" routine etc.  Credit where it's due, he played that game well.  Still a cock though.

And while I'm crapping on people...it was clear from the post-match interview that Zullo (who is a very good football player I hate to say) has not yet experienced the dropping of the balls.  A very pre-pubescent voice on little Michael.  There, all done.

hell yes that was quality!!

i thought that they were interviewing a jockey from the melbourne cup!!

didnt aggree with the commentator when he was defending the korean fella, from what was visible both men were tracking back waiting for the ball to drop and elrich had his arms up high and caught the him. whilst it was a bit careless from elrich there was no intent there, and didnt warrent a red card!

also when karl dodd got booked for his first tackle i thought that was a bit ridiculous.

Moss had a great game  give me a break.

Paston got sl*gged for spilling a shot, Moss dropped an easier one but luckly no one was following through to score. Moss got the penalty taker to go the way he wanted him to and than went down on one knee and didnt save a poorly taken penalty. Moss positioned himself behind a defender and let in a goal and than went off at the defender when it was his mistake.
He made some gerat saves, have another look, they were shot straight at him, poor finishing not great saves.

Hardout man seems to be the way with refs when a team is from NZ
Johnson gets my vote, mossy a close second only because i think johnson did well to play physiclly and somehow avoid the yellow even though the ref was giving them out like priests dish out lollypops to schoolboys.

this week will be a great victory for the boys

Strange, I don't think a single player stood out and yet overall it was a decent team performance under the circumstances. Is it my imagination or does the defence look more composed with Brown there in the midfield?

Sure, in the first hour Roar cracked us open a few times but they can do that to any team in the league. In our defensive third you could see better marking, more communication and more confidence playing the ball out. Not saying it was top class, just improving. In fact with just the 10 men we had an excellent 10 minute spell leading up to the penalty when we played a patient possession game which was beginning to frustrate Roar - not exciting but smart. That's a game I wouldn't mind seeing more of.

Frustrating the Roar was working really well, Reinaldo was beginning to crack. The off the ball indent (that should have been a yellow) was just the start if we had not gone to ten men I reckon he would have cracked and done something stupid. But you can't have it all, some people are just born actors.

Stephen Old is such crap and a waste of space, even cleberson was better! just! but come on, hes out of his depth, he dives into challenges and is made a fool of on a regular basis, always out of position, just goofy and uncoordinated, his distribution leaves alot to be desired and well that pretty much covers it, he would be an average NZFC player at most.
