My First Time...

Hey all,

Last night was my first time to a Nix game, I have watched them for a bit but finally got to Welly to watch a game and I must say, I had a brilliant time, I was in section 23, near the Fever, picked up a few chants and joined in as much as I could.

I would like to go to more games but I live in Auckland and obviously travel would cost a small fortune, what Im wondering is, is there a group of fans in Auckland that gather to watch games at a pub somewhere or travel to home games?

Love hearing about people attending for the first time and enjoying it.

As for Auckland - somewhere in the "dangerous liason" forum there is an "Auckland feverites" thread (it's called something like that)

Hi Brad from Christchurch that lives in auckland, Tegal beat me to it re dangerous liasions section. Maybe you can get a Nix party bus sorted from Auckland for future games. George Costanza2010-11-28 21:41:25

I had a ball, had my new 'nix shirt on and everything, was pretty hoarse afterwards, the atmosphere was amazing as well!

I actually imagine a bus from Auckland wouldn't be that expensive if you roped enough people in. Could be horribly wrong on that though, just wildly guessing based on nothing.

Been tried before and failed miserably. Ended up being a jolly road trip for some of us in my car.

Probably best to try and get it organised as soon as the fixtures come out so that people get plenty of warning and can plan ahead

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

well good luck, there won't be many pubs in Auckland showing the footy, they're more of a rugby place aren't they?

Or keep checking grab-a seat.Have spoken to someone who has attended a few games this season from Auckland and he managed to get some good priced flights.

Mind you those visiting from spudsville could have trouble getting past the new gate checks.

If this was your first time:

Was it less satisfying that you were expecting?

Was it over too soon?

Was it quite awkward after?

Did you snuggle?

haha despite it being over too quickly it was very satisfying, no awkwardness, in fact it felt just right, there was no snuggling afterwards, I hadnt had enough to drink to do that

Hamilton made a bloody good case to host a regular season match next season. That could be your option.

Given Auckland's track record with professional football. I'd suggest the Chathams would be a more obvious choice

Hamilton drew over ~9000 to the preseason match v. Brisbane this year. Granted that did include travelling fans from Auckland, the Bay of Plenty, and Wellington (the latter two categories including myself), but the region has certainly shown potential. I'm not 100% opposed to Auckland getting a chance sometime again in the future, but they (IMO) don't deserve to host a regular season fixture until they can prove there is demand. Give Auckland a pre-season match first, any matches played out of Wellington should (again IMO) go to Hamilton and Christchurch before anywhere else.

A regular season game in Hamilton will still include fans traveling from those areas i think,so it's fair game to consider the entire 9000

Auckland has a bad track record with professional football? - I did not know this (still quite a noob when it comes to this)

Thats a pretty good turn out for H-town, although you are more likely to get people drive to Hamilton from BOP and Welly then getting them to drive to AKL and its not a big deterant to real fans to travel from AKL either

Just ignore all this foolish talk Brad. There are no such things as season matches played out of Wgtn unless they are AWAY games.

This weekend for example Adelaide are playing in their alternative home venue, ChCh.
