My new favourite game

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked

Find a reactionary, knee-jerk comment from someone in a match thread, and then do a search on them to find something they have posted that contradicts that statement.

I think people have to remember that Pav and Greeny are signed for next year, so we cant ditch them.

A positive sign however, is that of our current starting 11, its Pav, Greeny, Ifill, Paston and Musa who are contracted, and they are all capable of doing a job, or growing into roles in the future.

The biggest issue is that Rojas, Mac, Ward, Lochhead & Troy are all uncontracted and are all in our 1st XI.

Could be tough Aitkenmike - you seem to have rational, un-knee-jerky (my new favourite word) posts, although I am sure if I look back far enough there will be some posts from you claiming that North is greatest centre back in the world.

Wow thats embarrassing.

Atleast they werent all on the same day.
And opinions do change bud, especially over that amount of time.


And I still stand by my statement that Pavs re-signing of two years was pretty bad.
Hopefully he can prove me right and grow into a more key role, or even move out wider if needed?

and that is fine, but it is just the knee-jerkery that is funny, and it spreads a lot further than this forum.  The new fella at Europa League side Chelsea is the perfect example (Rameires) - for the first few games he was the worst player in the world and the biggest waste �18m ever.  He had a good game against Arsenal and became a brilliant signing who the team needed to be built around, before the team started playing badly and he was a terrible player again.  He then played well against Bolton and the team really misses him when they lose to Perennial strugglers Liverpool without him. 
 
All of this is from the press.....
 
On here there seemed to be hundreds of posts claiming Toto/Musa/etc deserved their chance and needed to play, yet exactly the same amount c**ting them off as soon as they get some time on the field and don't perform brilliantly.  In about 5 minutes I found a couple of examples and although it was a little unfair to pick on 2 people individually, it helped (a little) to prove a (pretty pointless) point I was trying to make.
 
I am pretty confident that I am immune from being fingered in this thread (metaphorically) as 90% of my posts are ramblings that make very little sense.

So I am cynical, and too cool to defend my team, as well as being a stubborn old c**t who thinks that we should support and rate highly every player we have despite their useless performances?
 
How about we go for the middle ground that I am talking about in each of these threads?  We accept that people can offer a critical view of the teams performances as long as it is correct (as Billy Harris' was) as well as accepting that players have bad games and not c**ting them off too much. 
 
Through the latest match thread there are people claiming that Musa is useless and should be gotten rid of, where I am sure that a number of these people were recently claiming he should be playing and it is a disgrace that Kosta never played enough.  In one game he has not gone from being a player with massive potential to a drop-kick anymore than I have changed from a rambling twat to an intellectual with well thought out arguements just becuase I have put reading glasses on.

Nah that's not what I meant - I meant having to stick to your initial opinion all the time so as not to be called out for being hypocritical. Toto is crap, I agree with you, but I said I thought he was ok at first so either I change my opinion and get called out or keep the same opinion despite it being wrong.

The only way Musa is gonna get better is if he keeps playing at A-League level at least. But he has a lot to learn, granted.

The whole ganging up on single players is pretty sh*t regardless, I agree.

So basically I was being flippant.

Re: Billy Harris, I like that most people were defending the team. So what if he's right? f**k him. Like Homer said in The Simpsons, if I wanted reality I'd get this lump checked. Someone in your own family can criticise other family members, but it's a different story if some random person does it, even if justified. That's what loyalty is.

Since when have fans been realistic? Rose-tinted glasses is part of the fun for me. We don't really have the best keeper/winger/striker/team in the world, but I'll happily chant that as if it's true.

People can criticise the team all they want, but it doesn't mean I have too as well. I'll be realistic about a team or sport I don't really care about.

I have no problem with people defending their team - blind loyalty and a complete refusal to look at facts is part of what supporting a team is about.
 
I just thought that the slagging off of Billy Harris was a bit.........I don't know, petty?  He stated an opinion (in an opinion piece) and the general response was "you are a dick" and "what the f**k have you ever done".  We laugh at the rugby supporters attitude about the Helbergs but we are  just as guilty of throwing our toys if something is not 100% complimentary of us.  Then there are comments about having things lined up for Harris on Sunday (I am guessing some kind of banner or chant) whichI just find a little embarassing.

There is constructive critism and the offering of alternative solutions or you can be negative and run the the victim down (Verbally). I think some felt that Harris did the latter and would not have copped such a serving if he had of course done the former.
 
I could be wrong of course, but just offering an alternative view point.

it really isn't that hard.  Whenever you see a comment from someone c**ting a player off, just do a search on posts by that person, searching on the players name.
